What kit/price did you use for your 90" mod and do you reccomend it? For my Iron I'm looking at an S&S 1200 kit for $1300, Andrews cams for $400 and pushrods for $160 then about $1200 for fitting, then using my HD pro tuner for it, apparently this should get heaps of power but I don't wanna regret not going bigger.

Sporsters were light weight, so did not need lots of HP or TQ to perform well, & with the light weight they handle ok too. thats why i like my old tube frame Buell it's light has 1200 carb motor came stock with thunderstorm heads, just looks like a sports bike, so not like a traditional HD.

but take a pre 2000 year model sporster with thunderstorm heads & a cam set & free breathing pipes . & you have an easy 11'second quarter mile HD. the late model Sportys look great go great but the weight a lot more ( don't know why? ) my 95 cubic inch 01 Dyna weighed about same as a late model sporty but it had more TQ & HP at one time i could ride it to track & run low 11's & from 118mph to 121mph trap speed in 4th gear. my friend got his son        a tube frame carb buell thats low, to learn to drag race on, his son had not ridden bikes other than a mini bie as a kid so no riding experience. my friend has a lot of experience drag racing bikes, just told his son to take it easy at start. 1st time out low 12's the Buell motor it has has edlebrock heads, myself i like the thunderstorm heads better, it has andrew N4 cams only they are SE but same cam, all thunderstorm Buell came with those cams stock it had stock Buell 2 into 1 with 2 1/2 inch collector then just a 3 inch pipe no muffler ( loud ) my friend did not like the 3 inch straight pipe so just welded a tapper to the end & said it sounded better throtled better, then put a s&s one way valve on crank breather hose, went back to track for second time his son had been on the bike & been down quarter mile. first time low 12's 104mph & with only change being to weld a tapper to the end of the 3 inch pipe that was in place of a muffler , & the s&s one way valve on breather hose, his son ran consistent high 11's with consistent 115mph trap speed i think best time that night was 11.7  115mph, the impressive part was just the two minor changes to tune got the trap speed from consistent 104mph to 115mph . in bike drag racing a gain in speed of 11mph is a big gain in HP. forget about your time look at trap speed that tell's you what power to weight, if you see a high trap speed & a slow time, look at the sixty foot time it will be slow, thats just the rider. friends son was doing 1.80  60 foot times thats ok for a novice. if he was more experienced he could do 11.3 with a speed of 115mph but not important, just stating a fact.

but the shock came when we put that bike on my friends Dyno ( DJ 250i ) it only made 78HP so that bike must be very light his son is 85KG

if you look back in that dyno post we have here i posted my tube frame Buell dyno that was on same dyno, i'm 65 years old was riding like it too LOL only ran 12.40  111mph i'm about 86kg but my Buell has shock at rear and muffler they add weight but not sure how much.

the point i'm trying to make is just saying you want 100HP means bugger all.

why not say i want an 11 second or a 10 second street sportster they you know how it performs. there was a guy up Queensland that had a tube frame carb Buell that he used to ride on the street and ride to the track & run high tens quarter mile later took it off the road & no shock went a lot quicker.
