I know this has been discussed before but has anyone actually fixed this problem.

    Mine is a XL1200C 2010 model.

checked the basics like throttle return cable adjustment?

Check the throttle cable leading into the throttle body, it can come out of it's housing and have some slop.

sounds like it could have a small air leak dude, check your gaskets and vac lines

Thinking it is the IAC. When you stop it drops back to correct idle. If there is an air leak it would stay high all the time and wouldn't run as high as 2000rpm. I have noticed when the idle plays up it also is very jerky at a constant 80KPH say. I believe the reason is the IAC is staying open and leaning out the mixture too much.
I will buy a new IAC this week and try. Will keep you all posted.

Fitted the new IAC today. First thing I noticed was the parked position of the stepper motor valve. New one was in and the old one was out. Second was when started cold the idle speed was as I adjusted in the ECU, 1400rpm. Can't remember the last time it did that. Had always run below 1000rpm and came up as the engine warmed up. As the engine warmed up the idle came back to the preset value of 1000rpm. Took the bike for a good run and each time I stopped the engine came back to idle as expected. Appears problem solved by replacing the IAC. Case closed.

    hi all,

it is amazing as I was riding home from work on Thursday when I noticed that my 09 1200 sporty was doing exactly as you have described. High idle and slow to return to idle and jerky at around 80 k,s. I thought that it was needing a service, which I will do anyway, but now I know the problem. Thanks for that. I will let you all know what comes of it

    regards

    Mr Chriso

    Hi all,
Had bike serviced, 8,000k, and asked them to check the IAC and they said that was ok. Rode the bike through the city and everything was ok till either the bike really warmed up or because I was riding at a constant speed that when I pulled the clutch in the rev,s stayed high until the bike came to a complete stop. Could the IAC only play up when bike ridden at a constant speed or when the engine gets quite warm?
    Regards
    Mr Chriso.

Hmmmm, I am seeing this as well. Have been tearing my hair out thinking I had stuffed up one of the TTS Calibration Tables, wondering why my changes were not affective - this post has answered and I will approach the Dealer to have it replaced as the bike has only got 4,000Km on it.

Bit worried they may knock it back due to the TTS MasterTune.
