Was there a reason you went for the heavy oil?

Good luck with that oil....It will be way quieter, but cold starts will suck and potentially damage the engine as the oil will be too thick.

Who told you that 50/70 would be a good oil to use in an air cooled V-Twin engine (and please ask them to share the drugs they are taking as they must be pretty damn good)

Penrite Enduro oil  or Penrite HPR-40 premium, if any good brand 20-50/60 grand, , 50.70 HD Penrite could build high pressure in the oil pump & blow a oil pump  gasket out

50/70 is for older bikes pans/ shovels or ones with lots of ks or worn on them if where you live is warmer weather at the moment I wouldn't stress to much yet but in
colder weather bit thick harder on pumps and tight clearances , I run hpr gas/endure/ most of the year than run hpr 50 which is 40/70 in perth summer
no matter what penrite oil you use you cant wrong with it great aussie oil bean using it in motors for 20+years from lawn mower to $30,000 drag motors
have only just used synthetic on my late model hilux for the first time

g'day rednuts. you said your motor is running noisier now but is more responsive. that would concern me. i just checked out the penrite website and i think it said the 50/70 was for pre evo bikes that had lots of ks on them. i recommend you check the website yourself. it would have to be the most comprehensive website i have found so do it when you have a couple of hours to spare. i wont promise you will learn anything you didnt already know but it will certainly get you thinking. ( something we all do about engine oil too much. there is a bloke on this site who recommends used chip pan oil, i wouldnt use it myself but) i use penrite HPR GAS 20w 60 and try to change it every 5000ks on a 2002 fatboy. i reckon it would be good for 10,000ks but it gives me peace of mind. if there are any lubrication officianados using the you beaut fully synthetic stuff reading this can you tell me how often you change your oil and if there are any benefits from using it? i know this has been asked before but i am a slow learner. i have been running the castrol fully synthetic in my car for at least 6 years without an oil change or filter,i just top it up every couple of months with the same oil and its all good.

what wont break down after 8000ks bob? the bike or the oil? what does broken down oil look like? or feel like? what extreme conditions do you experience in bangkok that we dont experience here in sydney, brisbane, perth, melbourne, darwin etc? there are traffic jams here too, maybe not as bad as where you are but they happen every day of the week, sometimes in 40degree plus. the reason i use the HPR GAS 20w60 is for that exact scenario cos that oil is "designed" for LPG fuel which makes the engine run hotter. you said that redline and amsoil are the only oils to use and everything else is not so good. hello
