    G'day,

I'm becoming frustrated by the lack of compatibility and variety when it comes to exhausts for the early sportsters, particularly for my 1990 xl1200. A lot of what i see on the shelf is for 2004 and later, and i have recently fount a set of hooker troublemakers (2007 and later) that i would like to buy, but not sure of exactly what is different. So, is it the flanges, pipe diametre, or is it the bracketry that is different? If i buy them, how can i make them fit?

    Cheers

    Hi judgelj,

Not sure if this helps. My wife had a set of V&H RSD tracker 2:1 pipes on her 2011 Superlow. She complained about the heat (as they sit up high on the bike), so put on a set of V&H Blackouts 2:1 and she is happy now. I took the standard pipes of my 97 XL1200C Sporty, the RSD Trackers fitted straight in. I had to but a pair of plugs to blank off the O2 sensor ports, and yet to make up a new support bracket. The only downside was the the pipes sit out slighty further, so had to take off the mid-mount pegs and fit forward controls. Bike sounds awesome. From what I can see if its an Evo sporty engine it will fit, how it sits in relation to footpegs/frame etc might be different.

    Cheers

Yeah ive gathered that its a matter of peg clearence. Problem is i have forwards, but that particular style may not fit it. Looks like ill have to get the grinder out, cheers
