Has anyone set up a Fat Bob for Touring? What are the pros and cons?

    Thanks

Think I'm starting to drift towards the Street Glide, as I'm also looking to tow a trailer to carry my Assistant Dog and are planning more long rides than short, I'm likely to do 200 plus K on a slow day with long rides in excess of 800K.

That said I still like the look of the FB., not so much chrome to clean.

What are other riders experiences with either option?

Maybe Chriso will see this and comment. He and his wife did a lap of Australia on his FatBob. Maybe best to post this in the Dyna forum.

Two trips to Tassie 40000 klms in 18 months just make sure you get a sundowner seat

I did a 1000km ride recently which took about 13hrs riding a Fatbob in fairly stock trim , 60% of the ride was on twisty roads and rest freeway and HWY. If i do it again i would want to add in order of priority a detachable windscreen , second heated grips, third better suspension , lastly panniers and a comfort seat. That would make the bike luxury.

One of the cons imo is the fatbob looks shit dressed up as a tourer with the screen and panniers on it but the advantage is you can take it all off pretty quickly being detachable and then the bike looks custom again.

would take my fatbob round aus again in a heartbeat, done couple of big days of 1000 ks with no dramas comfort wise.

Set of clip on saddlebags and a bag on back and plenty of room for luggage.

Tuesday I have two test rides booked, the fat bob first up, I could only wrangle a short 30 min, but I then have the rest of the day on the Street Glide. I suspect I will be asking for a long ride on the Fat Bob to follow up, especially after reading the preceding posts. I noticed there is a CVO Fat Bob on bike sales the has bags and a screen for 28k what do you guys think? I'll post this on the Dyna forum aswell. Thanks

Well it looks like a decision has been made and it looks like the winner is Electra Glide Ultra Limited, with hardware so that the Tour pack can be removed. All things being equal the order will be placed tomorrow. Certainly not the outcome I expected when I set out on this journey

Electraglide? Why not just drive a car?

Because in a car I'm likely to kill some one
