Just about to take delivery of my new ride and was wondering about additional bike security

My Bike is going to be locked in a garage but we all hear the horror stories of people getting into garages.

Do any of you Have your bikes chained to the floor or have any other aditional anti theft messures?

Looking for piece of mind when im not at home

GPS locater with an inbuilt motion detector. I used an Australian unit for my hire boats and found them easy to use, not to mention cost effective.
Check on the monthly access fee's, you should be able to get these down to around $6.00 per month.
Ours had the option of when notification came through that the unit had been disturbed I could kill all power to the ignition.
I set our units up with a minute battery enabling the unit to still be powered for tracking, even if they disconnect the GPS you have their past know position.
The tracking is done in "real time" so you can literally have the cops on the phone whilst you watch the mongrels on your smartphone, tablet or pc.

The factory HD alarm is probably the best deterrent. And never leave your key in the garage or with the bike. Consider spending your money on an alarm for the garage, just a simple system with a movement sensor and screeching siren with battery backup. A disc lock might help slow them down or force them to carry the bike.

If they are going to break into a locked garage then they probably won't give up easily. Bolt cutters and cordless saws will get through any metal chain or cable you use.

I had to cut through a "bolt cutter proof" 1/2 inch steel cable lock when a friend lost the key, took less than 5 seconds with a cordless saw and a thin stainless steel disc. It was a busy Sunday lunchtime on Rundle St in Adelaide. Just donned a fluro vest before I walked on the scene and not one person batted an eyelid.

I'm thinking maybe I will just beef up the Locks on the Garage and a cover for the Bike. Might go with one of those disc locks that goes off if it gets moved.
    Insurance is a given

Dogs and other things that make lots of noise are good. Thieves don't like noise.

I guess either way you go, deterrents only deter honest thieves. If they want it, nothing you do will stop them.
I have a mate in insurance and he was only saying last night that the number of Harley's being stolen had dropped dramatically.
He recon's the number of HD's out there these days they aren't favourable any more on the black market.
