Hi people, Cameron from Northern NSW. Thanks for allowing me to join your forum.

I have fibally managed to purchase my first Harley Davidson, i got a Fat Bob with a

little over 5,000 Ks on it, it came with Vance & Hines Big Radius 2 into 2's and a K&N

air filter instead of the OEM type.

Then added Sundownder seat, sissy bar, backrest and luggage rack.

I intend on doing the cut and shut on the baffle to quieten down the bike a little, the mod on this

forum where you cut the baffle in half and weld some 3mm plate in between.

Look forward to reading through the forum etc...

    See you round,

    Cameron

    An update,

Well, took out the baffles, cut the baffles at centre but only till saw reached the top of one of the flu slots on the other side, Used a 2mm plate and drilled 10mm hole in centre as the volumetric area around the outside was too small. Welded into place, ground down the garbage and tidied up the rest. Now I can't take credit for the welding or design, just wanted to make that clear.

When it was finished we both thought it might whistle, remember, one side crosses the top of the flu. Oh, so it may sound like a Tarago.

Got home, was too eager, forgot to take photos. Anyway dropped them in, started and sounded like shot, coughing, spluttering and was hard to start...!

Time to utilise the PV. Went for a ride, first corner decel popping was insane. Did three datalogs during which I did lots of rolloffs and the rest just riding as normal.
After updating the ECM its running like a dream again, and no whistle..The sound is less raspy and deaper, also a bit quieter.

NOTE, having not completely cutting the baffles in half there was no reinstallation issues. On removal the top one was tight, it went in easier than when it came out.

    Hi Cameron,

I am new here as well and have been looking at getting a fat bob as my first Harley. Yours looks very nice!

You mentioned you are in northern NSW, I am in Armidale and was wondering did you buy yours from a dealer - if so, who and would you recommend them. I am just looking for someone trustworthy to buy from!

    Thanks
    Aron

    Hi Murf,

I bought mine sight unseen, bought it from Frasers Newcastle. Salesman was Mick. Was really nice to deal with, via phone and email. Cost of delivery to my door was $330.00. Just a couple of niggly issues, but you get those. Would I recommend and do it again through Mick at Fraser's Newcastle, definately. Found him to be open and honest. The niggly things were just chasing up an owner's manual, battery tender and second key for lockable backrest. All received, bike was delivered as described, more than happy.

Peter, yeah mate am having a blast, love it. Actually its 29 yrs I been waiting, dug up the brochure and it was 1985, before that it was Ducati I was wishing for.

    Thanks again for the welcome.
