Vibration

My 05 Road King Custom has developed a vibration which is mainly noticable after everything gets hot.

The vibration has been noticable for a while, but I figured with 42K  on it, it might just be a normal settling & bedding thing.

So far my "Y" piece on the rear cylinder exhaust pipe & bracket have cracked & broken. I was told this is a common problem by a HD dealer, why hasn't there been a recall???

The Saddlebag support bracket (left side) has broken in two. Finally the Indicator bar under the Taillight has vibrated loose.

I thought the days of Harleys shaking themselves to death were long gone.

I notice when at speed on the road, if I pull the clutch in & allow the bike to idle, the vibration goes away, let the clutch out & it returns. Making me think, it's got to be engine/gearbox related.

I originally thought it may have been tyre/road surface related.

Has anybody else had similar problems? Is it engine internal problem? How hard is it to fix? Finally do I need a bank loan to finance it?

Any advice is better than none.

    Cheers, Strawb

Maybe time to check pinion runout, you need to eventually check cam tensioners anyway. Excessive runout will give you bad vibration, trash the oil pump & wreck bearing. Hope it works out for you and its a relative easy fix.
