I Have just prurchased a iron 2012, I havnt received the manual from previus owner as yet.
Roughly how many k's left when fuel light comes on?

the answer is to refill as soon as or before the light comes on.

I thinks it around 3.5 Litres.

Depends on how you ride.

on a forty eight or 72 it means next servo or ya walking

I wouldn't push your luck over 50k's. I've done it once or twice and came close to walking. Safe bet is to fill up as soon as you can after it comes on, unless you know your bikes absolute limit.

My light seems to come on around 176-7kms. I usually ride to 200km and fill up. Always end up putting 10-ish litre in so really could prob go to 230kms and have about 1 to 1.5 litres left. I've done the walk of shame on a virago, couldn't think of anything worse on the Harley lol.

Before I had my engine increased to 1250, I managed to get 260kms from full to dry my Iron with a moderate riding style. When the fuel light came on about 180kms, I knew I had at least 70kms or so to refuel. I carry a litre fuel bottle, you know, just in case. Hope this helps. Safe riding.

Mine is a retard (the light), best to go by the total kms from last fill

My partners 883 when the low fuel light comes on she gets about about 75ks depending how you ride.

My light didn't come on the other day but I knew it was getting low because every time I gave it a bit of heavy throttle it sounded as though it had a flat spot in the engine. So went to the nearest servo and sure enough it took 12.5 litres. Managed to get approx 270 km out of the tank before I filled it up.
