Found this story today, its a few days old so some might have seen it.

POLICE enforcing the state government's anti-association laws are set to turn their attention away from motorcycle riders and focus more strongly on criminal organisations.

Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie said he expected the focus of his anti-crime laws to "ease off" on checking the credentials of ordinary people who happen to ride big motorbikes and shift more to gathering intelligence information about "bad criminals" and criminal organisations.

 

We'll just have to wait and see.

Well, golly gee Mr. Attorney-General. Who would have ever thought that "gathering intelligence information about bad criminals and criminal organisations" may have been useful in the fight against crime. Am I glad we have Mr. Bleijie protecting us. Makes me feel a whole lot safer. I will be able to sleep tonight.  I don't know, I just cannot help but think the man may be making it up as he goes along. Anyway, it is about time he called off the attack dogs.

Maybe the spin merchants in the LNP have felt a change in the wind of public opinion because of all the harassment of everyday voters..um.. I mean riders..

So the Attorney-General has issued another press release. I must ask a question, for I have been told I know nothing. Am I the only person to see in this in this statement from the Attorney-General an admission that police were acting on instructions from higher up the chain of command? That chain being: Premier -> Attorney-General and Police Minister -> Chief Magistrate and Police Commissioner -> then down the ranks. Or am I getting sucked into the vortex of another conspiracy theory?

AG has to fall on the bikie laws sword to protect the party leader. That is standard procedure for any political party and I have no personal problem with it. However, with these 'bikie laws' the way they are, that is, one of the three acts is not just about bikies from a purely legal viewpoint as it never actually mentions bikies, I must wonder what are we in for with the G20 meeting later this year.

The reason I ask this is because I am living in a "G20 declared area" and I wonder just what inconvenience this will cause between 16th - 22nd September this year. I have no idea why the area has been declared a G20 security area but as it has been, I wonder what inconvenience this will bring. Areas in both Brisbane and Cairns have been legislated as "declared areas" and "restricted areas".

After all the reports on the widespread abuse/application of the bikie laws, I wonder what we will be in for come September.

While Newman and Bleijie's constant attack of the Judiciary may endear them to some voters its not the smartest tactic when ultimately the High Court will seal their legislations fate.  Trying to appease everyday riders is exactly what former SA Premier Mike Rann and his then AG Michael Atkinson often tried as a vote saver while simultaneously attacking the Judiciary in an identical fashion back in 2007- 2010.  They were awaiting a High Court outcome on their version of 'bikie legislation' and suprise suprise the key parts were invalidated... and the Laws havent been seen since.  Interestingly during the hearing in Canberra the High Court judges quizzed the SA Solicitor General Martin Hinton at length on comments made in the media by AG Atkinson criticising the Judiciary.  Now theres no chance the 7 High Court judges will adjudicate against legislation because of criticism from high turnover politicians of course but they obviously take carefull notice about what is said to see if its valid to the case before them. The Polls are showing a shift and rising reactions to the rampant slander, like the attached link, are signs that exactly the same rot is setting in to the Newman/Bleijie duopoly.

Started my week long tour of Tasmania today. Found a big bunch of OMCG's taking a break from their run in the main street of a town called, yes you guessed it, Campbell Town.
