86 FXR advice

Old mate has an 86 FXR, 5 speed, Superglide. Has owned it from new and has an extensive log book on everything he has done to it. He is about to fit new sprockets but is having trouble finding the correct front sprocket. He has paid for a 22 tooth (wrong spline) and now a 24 tooth (Part no on box is 25658?) which a shop has said will work. Thats, I believe, 2 teeth more than stock, he is concerned that it will not clear the internals of the primary (I seem to think it should because a belt drive would have as big an ext diameter as this sprocket?) If anyone has some info/part numbers/availability that might help it would be greatly appreciated.

Old Scrubby actually sold his house years ago cos his bank manager told him he couldnt afford a house and a bike!

I run a 24 front on my 86 FXR with no probs! Coupled with a 51 rear, but soon to be a 48.

Pm me with any questions as I have had the old girl apart many times.

86 chain drives do have clearance issues if you are running an offset sprocket, no offset and stock rear end =no problems. I used to run a baker 24 tooth sprocket on my 86 that rollies would be able to get if he gets stuck
