Hi guy's, just like to introduce myself to the forum.
Just purchased an 09 Softail standard, the one in my avatar.
I'm 41, married with an 8 year old daughter and live near Geelong.
I have always only ever owned sporty styled bikes and always thought of harleys as overpriced, under handling, ancient buckets of crap that you couldn't pay me to own.
Well!, i traded in my Street Triple and test rode a few candidates, lastly the Softail (just for shits and giggles), holey shit this thing hooked me instantly.
Just the raw power, noise, bloody everything is great, even the first 2 corners when i literally walked it around because i was so nervous about dropping it.
I felt like i did when i first rode a bike for my learners course 20 odd years ago. That grin wouldn't go from my face, no bike since that day has given me that same feeling, until now.
All i want to say is i'm glad i didn't let my preconcieved ideas about Harleys get in the way of riding this machine.
One happy Harley convert .
