No worries, pretty sure my sister had her unlicensed trail bikes insured through them and they were cheaper than anyone else that she got quotes off

Shannons will let you tailor your insurance in any way that suits you. I have mine on "limited use" and nominate how many kilometres I think I would ride in a year, and they reduce the premium massively to allow for that.

I've also had cars and bikes on their "laid up" cover which basically is like full comprehensive insurance except for being ridden/driven on the road, and is designed for people who've taken their ride off the road for what ever reason (storage, rebuild etc).

My advice though, don't EVER let your rego lapse!

Shannons has a thing they call lay up Insurance which covers a vehicle if you dont ride or drive it and just leave it in the shed

Shannons is not bad ... I have a 99 Springer in a shop being Bobbed / Chopped and with their Layed up cover only $ 20 a month and like others have said they have at least 4 levels of cover ... Layed Up ... Once a Month ... Once a fortnight ... or all the time .

I have my 08 Softail covered through QBE ... full coverage $ 440 per year ... going to see if I can get an even better deal with Shannons by combing the 2 .

    Good Luck .

I changed to Youi recently. It now costs me $237.39 for an agreed value of $21000 for my FXDWG. It's about half of what QBE were charging me.

Thanks to this thread motivating me and my renewal turning up, just changed my insurance from Market to agreed value, included the engine mods, and
my insurance actually went down, from $400 to $360 !
The QBE consultent couldn't even figure out why ! - computer says !

I went with Youi for my Streetglide. I tried RACV ( who we have been with for 11 years and have 2 cars, house and contents and a on site van with) they wanted $950. Shannons wanted $1450!. I rang Youi, got full comp, agreed value of $26,000, $2,000 towards riding gear with a $600 excess for $407 a year! It was $100 cheaper with out the riding gear. The next best was Swann at $746.

I have a couple of bikes insured with Youi, they also tailor insurance depending on level of usage, in my case I probably rack up less than 1000kms per year due to work commitments, so both packages cost me around $300/ p.a.

The acid test of an insurance company is when you make a claim though, and thankfully I have not yet had to do that.

While on the subject of youi, has anyone claimed from them or anyone you know claimed and was successful?
My mate had a bad experience when a woman knocked him off his ride and her insurer (Youi) would not pay up.

Well unfortunately I have had to make a claim just recently. So far they have been great. The claim assistant was very helpful and the assessor personally rang me himself to let me know that they have approved my claim. They were all concerned about my well being and so far I don't have a bad thing to say about them. So a big thumbs up, so far......
