Question about installing valve stem seals..... (aftermarket seals)

Do they have to be flush with the guide, all the way down until they bottom out on the guide or are they ok with some space between the guide and seal?  The reason i ask as 1. first time 2. only one seal actually went down with a little help just like in the manual but the others 90% and thats were they stopped.

    thanks

metal 1's go to the bottom , make sure you have the little plastic stem cover boot on 1st , slight oil stem only   & keep it in line with the valve guide ,  non metal are different

voton seals should have the little instruction sheet with them,  measure 0.250 " from top of guide & mark with a five  fax pen  use a 7/16 mutihex long  clean socket  slide on dry, i still use the plastic stem cover with a smeer of oil on stem tip , push on square to guide by hand untill bottom of seal meet  pen mark , do not push pass this  as it will spreed the inner seal lip, check top collar too seal clearance for valve lift min 0.050 " clearance  or can machine guide down if not , i have special tools made for this for different model heads for big lift cams,

So this means no matter what seal your using in needs to sit flush on the guide, also the guides are not stock av&v i think, as they have retention grooves

which is why i think it is so hard to get em down flush.....

are they white  or blue with a steel gold band, the grove's are only fine on the guide  for seal grip ?
