Exhaust noise problem

Need a bit of help here. I ride a Iron Sportster coverted to 1250 with Bassani Sweepers. I've managed to cover over 52,000kms in two years with barely a glance from the police here in Tassie. On Sunday I was pulled over and given a defect notice for my loud exhaust. I've since learned the only way my bike will pass the test would be to fit the original mufflers (which will murder the performance). Once the bike has passed it's little test (only have 4 weeks to complete the task) I want to get a new system. I was thinking of a 2-into-1 and don't want to compromise the performance but have to ensure the bike isn't too loud. Any suggestions?

Patriot defender 2-1. Sound adjustable and one of the best performing sportster pipes avail. Search for it on hdforums.com

And if you don't go the patriot defender route you can lollypop (or thunder torque inserts) any pipes you buy to change the noise level. I couldn't stand the sound of my VH Bigshots, but now I'm stoked.

not really answering your question directly ! however I got done here in the ACT and I just found a good exhaust shop to fit the stock pipes in the morning...out to the RTA ..then back to the exhaust shop to refit. Cost me $100 each swap so $200. Bit of a waste of $$$ but haven't been done in over a year so not too bad.

As others have said Patriot Defender, But you will need a power-vision tuner with 2 totally different tunes installed it will run like shit and foul plugs in 2 seconds if the baffle is closed.

Even with the baffle closed though its probably enough for the cops to let you go, Don't expect it to be as quiet as nanna's corolla though.

Not that I have been done by cops or epa yet but...
Standard pipes......sound shit but legal and no hassles from the law.
Any after market pipes and you risk a trip down to get them tested. Back to standard to pass.
Any adjustable type and you risk a defect notice. Back to standard to get the notice tacken off.

Its all about how much risk your willing to take.
Listen to other bikes and make your own mind up.

Listen to others and risk loosing the lot.

Its not my opinion above but my experience with running this set up for about two years with a tts tune. And i ride very regularly. Quite a few are using the same pipe in the same way on hdforums.com in the USA.

Don't get me wrong. I don't use it in closed for very long at all and only idle or partial open throttle when not under load in the closed setting.

Mine came with the cable and choke lever. Took five mins to set up. And easy-as to use on the move
