These NSW consorting laws are very different to the draconian Qld bikie laws. There is really little similarity. If the author of that opinion thought those laws were over the top, what must he think of the Qld laws?

A number of jurisdictions have criminal association laws such as nsw, vic, sa etc. however only Queensland explicitly defines a criminal group via legislation.

Additionally, and importantly, aren't discussions between you and your legal team the subject of legal privilege? All this talk of the laws relating to the prosecution of the alleged criminal activities of bikies makes me wonder what other jurisdictions ( for example of Canada, where the violent crimes seem to be far more extreme than in Australia ) are using in their legal processes to try and deal with the issue.
These so called "bikie' laws are really moving into what I consider to be dangerous ground in Australia, and as we are seeing in Queensland other people are ending up being caught up in what can only be described as the persecution of anyone who rides on two wheels. I don't pretend or presume to have an answer, although I do think that our judiciary have been less than effective in administering the laws that we already had in place.
