Sore tail bone on long rides

I have a 07 custom and get a really sore arse ( Tail bone ) on long rides. If I sit forward close to the tank my arse is OK but it doesn't feel right  and my legs aren't comfortable. If I sit back on the seat it feels OK and legs are good but after awhile my arse gets sore. Ive heard about custom seats and changing the bars to change to seating position. Any advise and first hand knowledge would be great.

    Cheers

    Paul

I got my original seat modified by Ergo Seats at Capalabah. Best thing I ever did. Had the back widen to get rid of the std Gstring seat for the Hand Brake and dished for myself. Makes for better riding for all.

I know what you mean not the most comfortable seat but used to it now. How did you go setting your preloads can't seen to stop the jarring at any sort of speed.

Shell just did a 1000 k's over two days on her std 07 sporty seat an she reckons its fine.
I couldn't do 60 k's on that same seat whithout complaining.
Depends on your arse shape, maybe you need your arse remodelled to fit the seat.

My old 250cc V-twin Honda cruiser had the best seat ever - deeper n wider than on the sporties. Really miss it.

I find some days on the Sporty are more tolling than others - I really notice stiffness in my hips if it's been really windy and you're battling it constantly - especially if I tense up doing so if its really gusty.

Dyna riders gloating in the Sportster lounge. Hmph. Haha Noit, you only get a yellow card for that offence - you kicked every other HD model as well :)

I suffered the same thing, so I had the OE seat remodeled with 40mm blue high density foam, me ass still gets sore after a full days riding but it's a lot better than before.

here's an eazy help tip take your 07 custom seat off the bike(1 screw at rear of seat)somewhere on the bikes frame near the ecu i think is a big locating bolt for the seat if you remove that you will find most of the pain in your tailbone gone!!
you don't need that bolt to hold your seat on and i have had mine out for 12 months no probs..
