    Hey all,

looking at getting a 1200 sportster, I'm a pretty big fella at 6'3, 105 kg and wondering if I would look like a muppet, I see that forward controls are the go and was wondering if there are any other bigger guys running the same bike.

    cheers

6'6" on a 48 and loving it! I'm only 80kg but the height thing is not an issue for me, I'm going to be big on any bike, so I might as well be big on the bike I really like! About to move to mid controls too so that I can fit the exhaust I want.
The big twin fellas all laugh right up until they try to race me :)
    Love my sporty!

Recently gave a lift to mate from the station, he's 6'3" and around 100kg and the bike had no issues at all with both of us on it. The shocks were a little unhappy but not so much so that it was an issue on the short ride.

With the stock bars you will look like a bit of a gumby but with some low bars with not much sweep it makes the riding position much better.

I'm 6'1 with a Forty Eight and some Biltwell Flat Tracker bars and I reckon I don't look too homo.

Agreed, I put drag bars on and it does make a huge difference!

I am a similar height and weight to you and I fit on my sportster custom well. I've been told I do look a little big on it by a mate or two. But people our height are going to look big on a lot of bikes. I have mini ape hangers and had a reduced reach seat which had me close to the controls and a little cramped. I've re fitted the original seat which moves me back a few inches and feels a little more comfortable. Long story short; forward controls, a seat that doesn't move you too close to the tank and a comfortable set of handle bars (customised to fit you with risers etc) and you should be right.

I'm 6'3 and owned a Sporty Custom for three years, only changing last year. Loved the bike and no real issues. Only thing I can think of was a bit of back ache on long rides, but lowering or putting on higher bars would have resolved that but never got round to it. Performance was good and with a few tweaks handled like a dream

Hey mate Iam 6.3 ft and was told I looked ridicules on a 48, loved the bike I test road while waiting for my fatty to get serviced. Like others have said performance no issues but I gotta say after my mate took a photo I looked like a grass hopper fucking a ant.

At 6'6" I'm gonna look huge on anything, but here I am on my 48.

Pretty comfy, I ride into work every day, and weekend 160km rides are still OK. I'd rather cut my arms off than be seen with ape hangers! Just not my thing!

Tell me how your back & arms are feeling after doing 4 or 5 hundred kms in a day. I'm not a huge fan of apes either, but in the end it all boils down to comfort & preference.
