Rear Indicator relocation Street Bob

I ordered the detachable kit for my Street Bob so the wife had a sissy bar to lean on when going two-up. I wasn't so keen on the standard HD relocation kit that has hollow stalks that "relocate" the indicators further out, but in the same place. I got a great idea from an american HD forum and it has worked a treat. My dealer had never heard of this solution but it was happy to give it a go. It gives me the option in the future of running detachable saddle bags for longer trips...

It's actually a softail relocation part...Pn# 53959-06 in chrome. There's a black version available too..

It's technically illegal/not ADR compliant, since there is only 160mm between reflective surfaces, but it could easily be spaced out to be the required 180mm

IMO it looks way better than the ugly stalk kit that HD made to accomodate saddle bags..

    Where's the brake light?

As much shit as people hang on them, I've always liked the Streetbob's original light setup - it's why I picked the streetbob. Ya gotta go with what floats your boat though and it's a clean look.

Those are the brake lights - a small cluster of leds in the indicator body. The 2013/2014 (and 2012 ?) ditched the separate stop light on the fender, and indicators, in favour of the 3 function stop/turn/tails you see here. I just moved them from the rear fender struts to the number plate extension.

They clean up the tail by having one less thing back there, but the main issue with them is that they are a sealed led unit that can't be messed with or disassembled- so you can't even put smoked lenses etc on them.

That's the only thing I dislike about em. Would love to smoke out the back lenses some how... maybe get creative with a sharpie lol

You can get spray to darken the lens Supercheap or AutoBarn (or both) would stock it, but as far as I know it goes inside the lens, not outside.

yeah you can spray them with NightShades (buy as per Bonkerz) it works quite well, you just have to not get carried away and make them totally black.
with a good 2-3 coats you will have a pretty dark lense, and the light shining back thru is still surprisingly good.
Have done this myself many times never had issues at night or with Cops.

I know it's not a Dyna but have tinted the lights on my Breakout (same Led Lights), 2 coats of Night Shades and 3 coats of clear, just make sure you sand all the lettering off the lenses so that they are nice and smooth.

Did you have to get longer cables

Did you remove the lights before spraying or did you just tape up and cover the bike really well?

    Nice <img src=" border="0" src="/DesktopModules/NTForums/themes/_default/emoticons/smile.gif" />

I just got a HD relocation kit for my 2013 street bob, trying to fit it last weekend and was wondering how the hell you get the wires from the LED type turn signals/brake lights to go 'down the stalks' when you fit it as 'intended'... seeing as the cabling doesn't fit the same as the older bulb type models...

Ended up ordering a part from 'great bike gear' in the US which re-locates and mounts the plate etc as well, wish I hadn't now I've seen this!

The LED's are a sealed unit you cannot push them back into the lens and then back out through the stalk. New relocation kits are just a slight variation on the old one with a couple more bits but still rubbish. I put my wires back through the hole they came from and put some heat shrink around to cover the grey so it doesnt stand out too much. Make sure you put you sissy bar on before you pull your wires too tight otherwise you wont be able to lock your sissy bar on or you will damage wires. They look like shit when your sissybar is off but not so noticeable when it is on. My opinion this bike was never intended for two up riding but then why did they bring out the street bob special wich has the same trouble ?
