Does make ya think back don't it. No pics, didn't have cameras then.
The old Man had an old Villiers powered rotaty hoe that had seen better days, but the little Villiers two stroke engine would still fire up with a bit of persuasion.
Must have been about 11 or 12 I reckon, took the rotary hoe and me 28 inch Flash Cycles push bike into the shed one weekend and came out with a bright yellow villiers powered
treddly without pedals, and a market garden style exhaust
Welded the Villiers into the frame and direct drive from the engine to the pedal crank and then to a 20 inch rear wheel, assortment of cogs.
Took a bit to get the little bastard fired up pushing it, but once it got going it farely motored along.
No brakes, no clutch, no nuetral,,, didn't take long to stack it,,,several times,,, sort of ended up a write off pretty early in the peice.
Old man must of laughed his guts out about that episode, anyways, made him decide I was ready to inherit his Beeza Bantam.
Then came the RZ's. Like RD's but with brakes.
Suzuki DRZ400E, still got it for when I get the urge to go into the scrub.
My first bike was a 85 Honda XL 250s, was my dads before he sold it to his eldest brother, Wasn't running when I bought it back off my uncle with intentions to fix it up, as it had a hard life on the farm, even had a cow knock it over and put a hole in the fuel tank. I never got to ride it as I sold it to some mates who just wanted the motor for a buggy they were building. My first bike I bought and rode we a 95 Honda XR 250. Had it for over 4 years, last time it was ridden I flipped it doing 90+ kmh on the back wheel. Bent the back frame and pushed the muffler out @ 45 degrees. Rode it homeland parked it for a couple years before a fella I knew bought it off me. Move on 10 years, I bought my first ever Harley.
14th birthday present $500 mk7 pursang
i didn't get to ride it until I was 15
same as this, I have this one now about to ship to buyer $5500
My Suzuki GSXF250 Across. Bought it brand new in 1998 and kept it in mint condition for 12 years. Ended up selling it to a work colleague who unfortunately hit a roo with it. It survived but was then loaned to a friend of their's who dropped it and would appear to have not looked after it all that well.
I have pics of it after all this happened and was heartbreaking to see.
Hesh
My first bike was a Velocette Viceroy scooter. Mine was a red early '60s and I had it in 1964/65. Fairly unique, 250cc twin opposed 2 stroke. Engine up front with gear box and final drive under the seat! Had motor bike type suspension and had a good turn of speed for a scooter!!!
Great bike, easy to ride and fun. Had one for years when I first got back on bikes when I turned 50... bought it for $500 and sold it for $1650 with 3 years of use. Best bike to get used to riding again after years off bikes... my first bike in the 70s was a Honda 350 Four... wabbled all the way home after buying at Peter Stevens in Melbourne.
I then got a Kawasaki VN750 about four years ago after the little Suzuki and now have a GSX650F Suzuki and a Harley Custom Sportster.
I owned a Bridgestone 90cc with clip-ons. A flying ant
Was it like this smutly??
here is where it all started for me
