Hi was wondering if there were any aftermarket options for pissing off that ugly alloy headlight mount/awning on the early sporties. I was going to chop it until I realised the headlight is hanging from it. Suppose I can make something just thought I'd check with others first.

    Cheers

I struggled to find a basic looking, low profile headlight bracket to swap out for the stock headlight brow, so I made one myself. I am happy to send you some pics if you need them.....it was quite easy.

I was quite ready to make one until I got a bit fussed over the wiring, specifically the indicator lights. What did you do about them and yes pictures would be fantastic!!

Would you drill and mount upside down or right side up? The problem is getting swivel for adjustment

To set the headlight at the correct angle, I angled the front section of the bracket at approx 15 degrees.

this gives the light an angled finish. I will take a few pics today and send them to you.

i have a couple of photos in my forum photos here, click on those to get an idea as well.

i kept the light ' bolt up ' and didn't change it, but it will work bolt down as well, you will need to attach it to the lower  tree as T1 mentioned.

Yes very nice bracket. Problem for me is doing something about the lights as mine Re integrated into the headlight mount not the speedo like yours

So had a better look at this and i will most likely mount it bolt down, purely for looks. Only problem is i cant sit the light back far enough to drill through the clamp. Ill have to make a bracket that protrudes out, does this sound about right? Also will i weaken the lower clamp by drilling it?

What have people done for their dash lights? Ill obviously have to remove them from the stock mount and do something with them...

You could make a new bracket or look at how the newer ones are mounted. Mine has a bracket mounted to the lower clamp. I thought about removing the visor and fitting a larger light, but not sure how to hide the holes left behind

Yeah ill have to make a bracket to mount on the lower clamp. Try using some rubber blanking grommets. Probably the easiest way.

Do people just drilled the bottom clamp with their brackets?
