hi everyone, just signed up, i have bought a 94 sportster 1200 xlh as my first harley. il upload pik when i put it back together.

anyways looking and searching on google for a set of pipes for it and not having much luck. i love the v&h short shots but there not made for my year. im considering very short drag pipes that are on ebay for around $280. will the carb need tuning and will thay hurt the engine? i listened to a set on you tube on a 883 2007model and imo thay sound madass. thanks

There's a mob in the US that do those for around 200. Apart from that I wonder what the difference between early and late model exhausts that make the incompatible. Is it the flange, diameter, maybe someone can help?

Apart from that I don't see why you couldn't make short shots for a couple hundred. Take it to a shop get them to cut the rear most pipe at the first bend, weld new pipe directed towards the front, then another bend towards the rear. Front most pipe would need to have material welded on where the slip on goes to lengthen it. Hope that makes sense.

I don't think you would absolutely need a tune, probably more important with fuel injection and computers. Thought it wouldn't hurt to do it and get the most out of the performance mod.

Man those things would be loud as fark! Considering how badly short shots hurt my ears, even with quiet baffles, those drags would make them bleed

My drilled baffle standards still pop like hell. They would be obnoxiously loud. Interesting to hear in real life prior

They'd be a plod puller for sure, & you'd get a defect sticker in no time. I wouldn't waste my time or cash on them. As dynoharley mentioned, they'd be a pain to tune your bike with.

put a set of these on the road sweeper had to after fitting a kicker like the look and sound pick them up for $150 of gumtree still new in the box

Where are these gumtree exhausts?

I go into gumtree every day and have a look good stuff pops up every now an again got be quick before someone ealse see it

There are rarely pipes for sale on gumtree, i know what you mean.

A lot of this vance and hines stuff is for later model sportys. What is the different between the exhaust diameter and flanges off a 1990, as opposed to a 2005. Can they be made to fit?
