fitted the 625's today. Haven't ridden it yet but if it goes as good as it sounds I may not worry about bumping the CP and re fitting the 640's.
Definitely needs a tune running a bit rich and hunts a bit at idle but seems a lot crisper on the throttle.
Need to give the tappets a tweak a bit rattly fucking things I can never get them right. I guess better loose than tight.

Also fitted a set of  Wards Fans as it had been running a bit hot previously. Well they WORK GREAT, turned it off at 130 deg C and then switched on the fans, they drop the temp 1 deg every 5 seconds so I reckon my problems in the traffic could be a thing of the past thank fuck.

    cheers

    Max

I fitted T Man 625 cams, replacing SE 259E cams. If this the same cam, it made a great difference. it cuts in earlier and more streetable.

yep seem more responsive but given the tune a bit hard to say for sure.
will do a WOT tune and roll it next week, I can then over lay the two runs, compare it to the 640's and see if it's worth the effort of a full tune

well that didn't work out to good.
    10.8:1 s&s 640 148/136
625 139/129 consistent across the curve. does seem nicer to ride probably from a better throttle response with the cams better suited to the 10.8:1

back to the drawing board. Is there any simple way to remove the valve springs while the motor is still together in the bike? need to check how much valve to piston clearance I have so I can work out if I can cut the heads enough.

    Procycle dyno seems very happy.
I dont understand! you put a cam in with less overlap and lift and you expect\want the same numbers as the 640's. never gunna happen mate.
To get the big numbers something has to sacrifice, and unless you are some engine tuning god from parts unkown, normally low speed drivability suffers. When was the last time you seen a Door Slammer down the shop picking up a loaf of bread?
Sounds to me you now have some good drivability, how often are you going to notice the difference bewtween 148hp and 139hp. Unless of course you are purely building a dyno queen.

Fred has been around dyno's for years mate he be one of the 3 top tuners in OZ. He was at Serco for years and trained people who brought dynotec 250i dyno's. I'm sure he was trained in the states and would get a job anywhere in the world with his name.

hi ozy sorry to see you have the runaround its been & experance forsure & more expence , i think the 124 is more of a short distance motor with it's  concaved skirt rear piston short skirt & long stroke  a lot of thrusting @ higher rev's  a roadglide is more of a cruise bike  i think she would be better in a dyna , if you do cruise a lot i would set the gearing up for her on h/way use,  as soon as my broken arm & dioslocated shoulder heals i 'am building a 124 hot street set for a friend 1999 dyna as she was a 95 c.i. i have taking her down the strip 1st & only time out @ 11.1 sec @ 119 mph, ( Krash knows the bike she 's black with orange flames paint ) , i'am setting her up with a S&S D full modded card with 2 thunderjets etc ,  I'am porting & polishing the heads myself with high comp using the kit flat top pistons when finished & run-in i will  take to a dyno for 1st set up just as a check only as i'am not a fan of dyno's ,  then finnish the tune @ the strip that way i get to have some fun also  i can let you know the dyno sheet , i'am worried that my arm maybe will not let me race like i use to as i have not seen anybody else do the start & the 1st 60ft time's that i do   1.55 sec 60fter's on stock tyres no sissy bars, i'am still laid up with pain could be a while before i can back to what i do , very bored @tm,  haveagoodnewyear

Not really run around more the way I have chosen to get there. I could have just pulled the heads from day one and jumped the CR but then I would know a few things I have learned
yea daddy a dyna would be nice and you may recall when we first spoke about this motor it was going in my dyna. Unfortunately I sold it before I finished assembling the motor.
I actually would like to do the big bore shorter stroke from S&S for it but they still haven't finalized every thing as far as I know.

Be interesting to see how much difference between the 124 and the 95 in strip set up
Hope the arm and shoulder gets right soon.
Take it easy and rest up. Gives you time to get all the bits together

I wasn't and wont question the tuner or his ability. No doubt his rep is good. So relax.

I'm a bloke who tells things as i see 'em, on the interweb or in person, just sayin!

ozzy, good luck with the endeavour and the chase, I've been there for sure.

I must be getting old though, put new heads and throttle body on my " 135hp engine" chasing more horses, six months ago. I still havnt put it back on the dyno for a retune and look see.

But fark it's more funner now to ride than it ever was. LOL.
