Hey guys, i took my stock unopened 883 iron to calder last night to have a crack (first time with a bike)  I managed a best of 13.7@95mph with heaps of wheel spin...  time to practice launching as i couldnt better a 2.0 in the 60 foot.

Thanks slaps! It's hard to find any numbers on other bikes as there really isn't any stock engined 883's that have been drag raced. There was another iron out there that was running 16@79mph .......

Good on you m8, you can improve on that, the wheel spin shows up in your slow 60 foot time. get the 60 foot time down & your times will get quicker. good to see someone here finaly have a go wish i was there doing it too.

hi Krash the old girl had stock original clutch in from when i got this bike , she did ride days as well as race practice days , 4 seasons of national series 883 twinsport , as well as other race outings bears , last outong was the 2nd last race meeting @ Amaroo pk in N.S.W. roadracing championships in amounst the jap bikes was a good days racing 5th row  starts 4 bikes to a row  so i was 20th off the grid  was 2nd or 3rd bike over the bitupave hill  those guys hated me , took home 2 trophys on the 883  & even though they hated me  one off the old guys came & said that i had the best sounding bike outthere he could her her all the way around the track 7,600 rpm gear changes no clutch every time , anyway when i sold her she still had the same original clutch plates in her after al that use ,

Hi Bob would have loved to see that!

Armaroo Park for those inter state was about the only track of its kind in australia ( i know of ) was built for bike racing but saw some great car racing to very tight track with a bloody big hill to climb off start line then u crested a big hill, could not see the first sweeping right hand bend till you came over that hill, that would have been something seeing a 883 sporty go from 20th to 2nd or third off the line & with jap bikes in it as they put shit & laughed at Harleys in those day's on a road race track.

Terristrone thats a great time & ok speed for your mates fatty! & for a first up time at track for sure, tell him well done.

how offten is Heathcote Drags on?

152hp and close to the same tq. She'll ran in now ready for a bit more timing etc! Worked out to be a good combination! I'm really happy with how it all went togeather, no issues at all!

it spanked the Harley heaven 120r dyna, and they had some ProBike drag racer riding it. Its all in the tune....Everybody has there own ways of doing things, some better than others....

At the end of the day, the numbers mean nothing, as you know a dyno is just a tool to aid in tuning... people get too hung up on there "total" number that a piece of paper has on it. All i know is if it rides better and faster after the dyno then its making more. What makes one tune better than another? The amount of timing (and where) and AFR's you set , and how do we know what to set these to? There are a number of different approaches, some use setting they have been told work or have read about, and wont stray far from that, while others who have been tuning for years and years use whats called an educated guess to net better results that do work. If you think along the lines of everybody else your not going to be any better so thinking outside of the box and being willing to try different things is what has kept us fast all these years (drag racing.)
