Hi all,
I've been lurking, posting and started a few threads in the last month, so I should introduce myself.
My name is Peter and I bought my first bike in 1980. It was a Honda CB200, about $300 second hand from the local bike shop and I was hooked from that point on. Soon replaced with a Kwaka Z250 which gave way a few years later to the original superbike, the CB750 K2. This was a beast in its day, inline 4, 4 into 4 pipes and heaps of grunt. If I still had it, it would be worth a bit now. Practically gave it away when I bought the CB900 F2 Bol'dor. Great sports tourer, did a lot of km's on that bike, formed a casual touring group in the Carlingford area and had many great weekends away on it.
Unfortunately, lost the bike in Tasmania on the East Coast doing around 120 and had a head on with an old Holden. A few weeks in Hobart hospital, then back home without a bike. Once all the plaster was gone (right arm, left leg) and I could squeeze the brake lever, I test rode and bought a VF1000R. Kept this for about 7 years, then sold it when I left to travel Oz in a campervan for 12 months. Ended up being without a bike for a couple of years, then bought a BMW K100. Good bike but never really "felt the passion" with it. Sold it and started looking for a Harley. Then the missus got pregnant (major surprise at this stage in our lives!) and now, 11 years later I finally got my Harley!
Picked up the 2003 anniversary custom sportster about 2 1/2 months ago and love it. It had 24000 km on the clock (over 10 years) and I have racked up nearly 3000 km since! I reckon it's happy I bought it and it is finally getting used like it should. My wife and I are already talking about getting a big brother for it down the track for touring, we both like the Heritage softtail.
Apart from bikes, I love music and play in a duo on the coast called "After Hours". If your in a local club and we are playing, come up and say hi. One of us is young, attractive and can sing beautifully. I'm the other one.
Pics of my bike below. I have added a plush seat (to keep the wife happy), the rack behind the sissy bar, chrome battey cover, detachable screen, saddlebags and handlebar clock.
Peter
