Married to the bike.

I know that you all know that if you buy a Screamin' Eagle Super Tuner it marry sits self to the bike that it is first commented to so that it can't be used on another bike. Hence Harley get to sell one unit per bike therefore more sales. A number of other tuner companies do the same thing.

i recently fitted a LED speedo and it too, once it's been connect for 50 km, marry sits self to the bike and can't be removed to be sold to some one else if you want to.

Do you think this is fair? I would have thought that once you buy it you should be able to do with it what you please.

    Your thoughts.

there other options out there and if you buy a product knowing what it can or cant do then you cant complain. I bought a TTS Mastertune system for mine which is simular to the SEST but transferable, or so I was told. My bike has been dyno tuned with it so removing it is not an option anyway. Don't know anything about the LED speedos though.

I'm not complaining as such. I was fully aware that the tuner would marry its self to the bike as it's been mentioned numerous times in this forum and online searches I did before I got it. The speedo was a eye opener as I was unaware BUT I wanted that speedo for the bike so I could see the speed better so it's a catch 22 situation. I think it should be written on the out side of the box that it does that.
Oozy max I have not tried it on another bike I am only going by the included instructions. I did watch the count down reading on the speedo go to zero so I surmise that it's now married to the bike.
I don't think consumer affairs would give a shit.

Not sure but I was told that with my TTS if I want to change to a different tuner I would need a new ECM from Harley and would need to start again from scratch as in the existing on board computer couldn't be reset.

    Any truth in that?
