Hi has anybody used the Ultima softail shocks ? On ebay they're only $99 plus postage.
Thanks Chopperweeza, I'm just fishing for ideas on how to lift up my fatboylo . I just got back from a trip to Melbourne/Adelaide and found I need more suspension travell. The lo shocks are a bigger cartridrge than standard softails so a standard length shock is the go. Also I heard of fork cap extenders that are two inchs longer does anyone know anymore about them?
Why not swap them with someone who wants to lower their bike and it won't cost you anything, its an easy job with a bike jack. Plenty of second hand standard ones around with low km's for $50-$100 which shows just about how good they are. Spend a few extra bucks and get something decent, in a weeks time you won't be thinking about taking them off to put standard ones back on, they will gather dust in the shed. The Lo ones might even be worth more than standard ones to sell to the slammed/scraping guys to keep the cost down if your worried about spending $99. Fournales or Ikon's are good, you get what you pay for.
A suggestion on raising the front end, put some intiminators in there, brilliant. Soggy front end gone and much less brake dive as well, stopped mine scraping and it feels like an expensive European set of forks have been fitted for 10% of the cost. Every thing else on the front end stays the same without having to buy even more stuff or find hard to get replacement parts. Check if your forks and or springs are shorter than a standard Fatboy, you might be able to another swap if they are. Many of the replacement forks for Harleys are no better than the originals, even the upside down ones, built for looks not performance. Some are or were being flogged as Marzocchi's but are made in China and have no parts backup, not even the seals. Don't know that I'd trust fork extenders, as if you have to do a panic stop and anything goes wrong, then a couple of bucks saved would not be worth it. Just my 2 cents worth of opinion.
