My softail goes well, but the intake noise is too much, for me that is, so was looking for a new aircleaner to replace the SS one

Found a colmplete air cleaner on ebay (love it)

Fabricated an adaptor from some 5mm Aluminium

 

Fitted it to the E series S&S carby

 

And bolted the cleaner on

 

 

Now all I need to do is airbrush the "na

I've never paid any attention to the sound my aircleaner makes...I guess it's not able to compete with the pipes...

My bike makes a very loud popping noise under load through my S&S air cleaner when I'm running dual headers and no noise when I run the 2-1 road rage. My guess is the stepped 2-1 scavenges the cylinders with no reversion coming back through air cleaner.
I understand why you would change air cleaners as it is loud and drowns out the exhaust noise under load.
