Confused to Dyno Tune or Not on Superglide

    Hi All,

Just wondering if you can shed light on this issue for me.

I recently bought Perfomance Machine air cleaner and screaming eagle tuner fir HD Dyna Superglide 2008.

I asked 2 different HD dealers for a quote and got different information regarding installation. One dealer advised that they would fit the parts and down load the suitable software for my bike straight from the factory as specified. While the other dealer highly recommended that in order the get the best result was to Dyno tune the bike the same time as installation of parts for best result.

When I questioned the 1st dealer they said that there was no need unless you had done engine work to the motor.

The 1st dealer  I have bought 2 HD bikes and get my bike parts & serviced. While the dealer has a numbe od dealerships around Melbourne.

Just  wondering whether any of the members in here have come across this or can shed some insight from there experience

    Thank you for you response

If you have only fitted the air cleaner you'll get away with some Xieds or a download, but if you have open pipes and open air cleaner, you may need something to richen it up more. I have an S&S nostalgia cleaner on my FXDC with modified stock pipes along with Vieds. It goes hard, is smooth as a sewing machine and hits the limiter in any gear (except 6th) with no effort at all. I doubt you would need to blow the cash on a dyno as well as the download  Just make sure your pipes have a bit of back pressure and it'll run great. The whole world is out there trying to part you with your cash on this issue. If you want to put a spring into it's step, get the download then get some Xieds (import from nigjhtrider) to plug in line, provided you have O2 sensors fitted.  The down load will increase your rev limit, give it a minor tune and the ieds will increase the richness a bit above the factory setting. Best of both worlds and a lot cheaper than a dyno.

    Thanks Dynoharley

Do you have to customise the screaming eagle tuner as when it is installed from my understanding is that they do update it with the factory software. But dealer 2 wants to charge $380.00 to customise the Dyno tune to my bike ???

    Hi,

If shop wants to dyno tune make sure you get before and after graph, as they probably just stooging you and put on a "factory close map" for your setup and will show you only a graph from running the bike on dyno after install

I wouldnt buy a tuner just for air cleaner change, get one though if you decide to change to full exhaust system as well, get a powervision, download map, autotune it and off you go

The bike will work fine with air cleaner and exhaust, will most likely pop a bit but thats it, they not a space shuttle
    Thanks
