Swingarm play.

Can anyone tell me if there should be any play side to side on my dyna swingarm. When on the lift with rear tire off the ground I can feel small clunk if  I push side to side on the wheel. It's not much but I'm concerned it could lead to more wear. Don't think there would be enough movement to cause handling issues. Should I take it back to the dealer ??

    Cheers Dutchy.

Thanks Kiwidave. Bike has only done 15,000km just 12months old. It has to go to dealer for new handbrake switch so will get them to check then. Cheers mate.

Most likely it's a set of shot wheel bearings....they should be cheap to replace.

Swingarm bearing is POS, on Dynas, for start there is only one , and it's spherical and runs dry .
Last time I replaced mine the difference in cornering was night n day.

Thanks Guys. Still has warranty so will get them to fix. Hope they last bit longer next time. 3hr trip to dealer pain in the ass. Money I spend on fuel could be riding with mates.

I have an 07 Street Bob with 80K+ on the clock. Was getting an odd feeling from rear of bike. Had it checked out and around 1mm play in the swingarm bearing/spacers equated to nearly 1cm at rear wheel.

Any doubt get replaced... look a rear wheel bearings too. All up less than $200 in parts plus labour.

Subject,Swing Arm Bearings.Should be no movement,As a member posted small movement at bearing equates to larger movement at wheel.I tow campers that will put stress on the swingarm bearing and have replaced one set on an 07 Electra Glide,Big change in handling.Re Hand brack switch. If you have changed your levers there is a chance that you have knocked the tip of the switch,If not im gathering you have a brake light problem. If the levers aren,t HD, Take the lever out and place a small piece of pvc tube on the lever switch tip and re place lever.Regards Steve.

Hi Steve, bars grips all standard. Brake light stays on. Switch is stuffed . If i ease it out with screw driver brake light goes off. Warantee job anyway. Cheers Dutchy
