G'Day all,

Im very close to buying a 2005 wide glide, however its fitted with 3inch extended forward controls, I can barely touch the peg with my toes. I will need to go back to original controls. I'm 173cm tall, does anyone around my height ride standard control wide glides? I found the softail was a little bit closer and felt better, but is there a way I can bring the controls back slightly?

you will find that the dyna's standard forwards are about 1inch more forward than the softail as I found out

I have been looking for reduced reach forward controls, trying to bring them back to around what the softail is but can only find them to suit 06 models.

I reckon this bike is the one, it would just be a shame if I cant pick it up due to the controls being too far away.

I'm about 160 cm, a mate and I made our own brackets to bring controls further back, was pretty easy, doesn't interfere with anything, and I can reach them perfectly, there about 1 3/4" further back than the stock ones.

was there much to it? I was thinking of getting a bit of plate to move the back, but I dont know if I need to shorten rods and things like that.
