Performance exhaust's

Just wanted to get some opinions on performance exhaust set ups. I've just had my 103 fxdf engine modified and Im sure the V&H 2-1 big radius is robbing some HP & TQ from the motor. Want to get the best out of this build.

I've been doing a lot of reading forums about this but just thought I would put it out there to get some further opinions. Drago, Bassani, D&D and SuperTrapp keep popping up.

My build is 103 with head work s&s easy start cams 10.5 CR 58mm TB.

I have a chrome set which probably would not suite your bike, But if you want to fit them and spin it again with Fred that's ok with me.
BUT he is fucking busy until next year and the old arrangement "you bend it you buy it"

Thanks for the offer. Would go for a black pipe, not fan of chrome. What bike did you have this pipe on? I noticed you said you have a Dragos pipe, what's your thoughts on that and how did it perform?

the offer was to see if it performs for your build. bolt it on spin it and swap back. Only take you an hour in the car park.
I ran it on my fatbob but never had it on the drum. Stock headers with no cat or control valve and modified stock pipes went 120/120

A fatcat might also be an option for you

the dragula is on my road glide. No idea how it performs bike runs like crap and no way known can I sort the tune on the road. Hopefully Fred can tune it out when ever that might be.

Hey Dinga, i just had the D&D bobcat fitted to my streetbob 103 as part of the stage 1 upgrade. have attached dyno sheet, good torque gains. stoked with the pipe sounds awesome. there is a photo in the Dyna section if you want a look.

G'day Riggers, nice gains you got there from your stage one. Looks like the Bobcat produces the goods. I bet it's got a nice note to it.

I swapped out V&H Bigshots for a D&D Boarzilla on my FXDF. I dont think I picked up any blindingly huge performance gains, particularly higher up in the rev range, but it made a vast improvement to the exhaust note. The V&H's were obnoxiosly loud with the standard baffle and sounded very harsh and raspsy. The zilla seemes to sound much deeper and not as hard on the ears in comparison but still lets out a decent crack if poked. I ordered the perforated wrapped baffle. Keep in mind this is on a 120, the V&H were "tolerable" on the 103 but I still fitted the quiet baffles to take the raspy edge off and sound deeper. The quiet baffles felt like they choked the new engine a bit much so I went back to the standards for a while before the D&D arrived. The Zilla is an OK looking pipe too (IMHO) in a world where every second Harley has some kind of V&H's fitted.

Bassani D&D and the Thunderheader are all good pipes. This day and age its hard to beat a supertrapp because it a tunable pipe making it easy to remove discs for the heat or a EPA inspection

I've here'd that the Supertrapps are good and very tunable, but bloody hell there ugly. IMO

It depends how many discs are fitted to the muffler too how loud they are. Depending on engine cube 22 to 28 discs closed or 12 to 16 open cap is full exhaust flow. My bassani road rage is running 22 discs closed and that works great after fucking around with it for a few years. The biggest problem I had was finding the right depth and location for proper 02 sensor sniffing for my exhaust flow under all RPM.

I suppose it's handy having the disks, you can always quieten it down for the EPA inspection if need be or play around with the disks for performance. Would that be right to say?

    pretty much
but it's still gonna be UGLY Imho

Basically the lower number of discs give more torque and the more discs are for better HP. I agree there ugly but worked well to tame the volume on my road rage. When I got on the gas with out the trapp the exhaust would roar setting off car alarms and shaking windows. It was fucked on the hwy with a exhaust reversion causing a constant drone around the 100 KPH.
