    Hi all,

First time Harley owner, first time poster.

Just had the first service on the bike and was informed that the handle bar bushings were starting to wear and they reccomended replacing them. The handle bars are not standard but were already fitted to the bike by the dealer along with a host of other mods to display as a showroom example of what you can do to a softail standard, am I right to assume that these modifications would be covered by the full 2year unlimited k warranty?

Is it common to only get 1550k out of a set of bushings?

I'd be claiming under warranty, get the bushes replaced free.
    1550k is not acceptable.

    Minor hijack here......

Bought a set of Kuryakin red and black braided grips for Marees Slim end of august through sunshinecoast Harley. Due to work commitments, didnt get round to fitting them till mid October. They looked great, really went well with the bikes red paint and black bars. Anyway, she rode around for a couple of weeks, then I came back to work and her bike stayed in the garage till last week, when she went for a ride with some mates
First thing she noticed after taking the cover off the bike was that the left hand grip had changed colour to pale pink. Throttle side was still deep red. She took some photos and called the dealership about it. Spoke to Jase, the owner and he said he'd get on to supplier and organise a new set. As that shouldn't have happened. She heard back from him yday and the supplier (I presume Rollies, but could be wrong), said they wouldn't replace them as bike must've been sitting in the sun for an extended period. Well, that's a load of crap. When it's not being ridden it sits covered in the garage and when out and about she always tries to park in the shade. She'd rather park in shade and walk 100m than have her baby bake in the Qld sun for 2 or 3 hrs at a lunch stop or whatever.
Anyway, she got an email from sunny coast HD saying they would refund the purchase price, give her a VIP price on a set of HD grips and fit them for free.
So gotta give a shout out to Jase and the boys for looking after her. Mind you they should, we've bought 4 bikes off them and spent a fair bit of dosh on services and bits and pieces over the years. But good on them for warranting something that wasn't really their responsibility.

    Hijack over!

Thanks for your responses, did a little research and most suggest replacing the factory bushes when changing handlebars from rubber to neoprene, hope Trivett HD Alexandria are as forthcoming as sunny coast HD.

Can't really say I'm happy with the quality of mine either, excess clear coat on the rear guard has formed a raindrop, faded spot in the paintwork on the oil can, not sure what it's called but the centre ring around the front axle rusting, the list goes on. There's probably a few posts on here about quality control so I won't start another but when you don't get any change out of 30k your two wheeled transport should be spot on.

my 2001 r1 looked as good as new when I sold it 12 years later, not sure I will be able to say the same about my harley (insert irritated face here).
