2012 Wide Glide 103ci sounds rattly (tapping) in top end.. gets worse when hot..

Had the local Harley Dealer in Toowoomba change ALL Oils n Filters after i brought the bike 2nd hand from Harley Dealer in Brisbane. Not Serviced - just oils..

Now it seems to Rattle (tap) in the top end.. and it gets worse when its hot..

I put in a LED Temp/Oil Level meter (oil cap conversion) and before the LCD on the died it was sayng 110Deg C when hot.. and the dip stick shows oil about 3/4 the way up to MAX mark when hot/warm.

    Any Ideas ?

HD Dealers in Toowoomba say its normal for a 103ci Dyna..

This is my first Harley .. so i could use other people's advise please.

    Cheers.

    Tony.

    Hi,

Yeah buy castrol GTT20W-50 or whatever weight as specified for lowest temperature where you live, there a table in the manual i think that tells you the weight

    Thanks

oil aint ya problem, 20w 50 syn or mineral its still the same weight

whats heaver a tonne of bricks or a tonne of feathers

hilly has already suggested the "C" lifters are crap so a decent set of lifters and some good adjustable pushrods and adjust accordingly is were I would start, might aswell do cams and inner bearings at the same time

+1...I would be inspecting the lifters as well.

I have a new noise on the Evo so its coming apart this weekend so i can inspect the lifters and primary side of things (just as well I buy gaskets by the 10 pack!)

-1 on the oil...On the older Evos the new Synth Oil a no go, whereas on your new twink the Synth will be fine. Bloody expensive, but fine.
