Hon Jack Dempsey MP,
I am writhing to you to ask why you are accusing the Rebels of running a major PR campaign against these new laws introduced to Queensland recently.
Can you tell me of any payments made by the Rebels to any media company? The Qld govt has spent close to $800,0000 to advertise these laws but when the Rebels agree to be interviewed on the matter you claim it's a PR spin.
>> POLICE CLEARED OVER ORDER TO BIKIES WAITING TO TESTIFY Can you tell why you stated on ABC radio that there were 21 Rebels arrested for a list of crimes from the Gold Coast to Townsville when there were only two arrested in Brisbane?
Then there is the 16 arrested on the Sunshine Coast why did you fail to tell the public that there was only one of the 16 charged and none were actually Rebels? And can you tell me why the media were contacted in regard to the stories they reported on about the Rebels and is it common for the government to contact reporters in an attempt to discourage them from reporting the other side of a story? Mr Dempsey it would seem to me if the bikie problem was as bad as the police/government is making out that there would be plenty of true crime facts to be reported about bikers and things like grossly inflating of the figures to portray bikers as worst of the worst would not be necessary.
>> THREE BIKIES WALK INTO COURT AND TOLD TO LEAVE IMMEDIATELY
I would like to make a formal complaint about an incident that occurred at the Maroochydore Courthouse on Wednesday 13th November involving two witnesses in a case of Rebels MC Sunshine Coast Inc were told they were to leave the court or be arrested even when told they were there to give evidence. (name removed) a police officer told them he did not care and that they were breaking the law, denying the Incorporation the right to present its witnesses to the court.
The actions of this officer both was intimidation of witnesses and perverted the course of justice. This is one example of police abusing the laws, this happened in front of many people and everybody was totally shocked by what this country has come to. I look forward to you contact re: investigation of this matter.
>> LONG-TIME REBEL BIKIE ANSWERS YOUR QUESTIONS
Mr Dempsey in this paragraph I would like to offer my opinion which is both well informed and at the grass roots of this matter, I think there would have been a lot more support for new laws if only they didn't target the innocent people now not all people in mc clubs are criminals some may have broken the law but are generally law abiding people, obviously there is a bad element in some clubs but it is not the club that makes them bad there are bad people in all walks of life many club members will loose there legal livelihood I would think the government would be encourage people to have legitimate jobs not take them away from your experience where will they get money to live on it may force them to crime which will only worsen the whole problem of crime.
Mr Dempsey I have long believed if you do the crime then you do the time but many people are going to suffer for the crimes of a few believe me there a lot of people in clubs that are sick of all the stupid crap that goes on too and would also like to see problem arrears cleaned up but punishing the innocent is not the way nor is making a law that makes the innocent guilty the people of Queensland did not vote for that.
I am available for further discussion on this matter. Thanks,
Tony Jardine
