this i was told was a prototype when HD were looking to re introduce the 3 wheeler to the market. guess they decided the tri glide was the better option, and this one will continue to sit in the restricted area at HD milwaukee.

more i look the more i like it..its a big departure from tradition, but it still is undoubtedly a harley. im sure there are some more opinions out ther, and if you know anything of its history myself and others are curious. theres another pic, slightly different angle in members pics "HD Museum"

Looks better than a tri-glide. No more storage space than a 2 wheeler. Correct me if I am wrong but Tri-glade has a small boot. I know which one I'd rather have in the twistys though.

Yeah ' wow what a loverly wrack !

Maybe why it never made it past prototype , regardless of which one handled better is they already have the tri glide market and all it's history , although they reckon they're ok the ' spider type thing hasn't really taken off , ' personally , I think unless you specifically were after such a beast , you may as well purchase a small sports type car 'or a trike ?
Definitely looks wild though hey ?

Congrats and thanks for sharing what must have been a trip of a life time , some great pics !

What are your thoughts on the Tri Glide after the epic adventure ?

    Cheers

cheers scotti. i should do a bit of a post on the tri glide, as there arent many here yet. the change of classification will see more here, just a matter of wether the over the top pricing stops buyers. it is now a lot easier to import and comply them now too

Actually Dutchy hoogan, the tri glide is better than you would ever think in the twistys. its generally seen as a bike for people a bit to old for a 2 wheeler, like people with weaker legs. the average trike rider is about 66 years old.  i will be doing a post on the tri glide soon, but for now, i will say, as someone who likes to ride hard, the trike is up for anything a 2 wheeler cam do. just takes a bit of practice and some kahoonas.

There was a vrod trike for sale on eBay last year. I think it was in Victoria. Looked pretty good for a 3 wheeler

Hi oneup. I have never riden any bike with three wheels. For some reason my slightly slow brain runs a tipping motion through my body when thinking 3 wheels especially with one at the front. That however doesn't make it fact. No different when I really start thinking about why 2 wheelers stay upright.

I like the orange 3 wheeler , better than the current Can-Am and could maybe turn it into something similar to the Morgan.

that orange trike was one of a few prototypes that hot rodder Lil John Buttera designed and built for the Motor Co , but the bean counters dismissed it as being too far ahead of its time , this was about '97 an '98

Lil John also designed the softail Rocker
