Hey fella's...Been having trouble with lower back pain lately and thinking about trying a new seat with a rider backrest...I don't want a single seat so has anyone got any recomendations on a full seat with rider backrest...also needs to be priced reasonable and look half decent...It's to go on a 2010 Wideglide...
Cheers...Sparra
If your looking for a new seat of any kind ' for any bike , you definitely can't go past taking a look at the Mustang Seats website , a massive range of styles covering most motorcycle brands and models , leather , absolute best quality components and fit , made to last , great company to deal with , was also free shipping at the time I purchased , though as with anything you generally get what you pay for ! There is a pic of mine in My Pics , ' suitably bulky , the biggest widest top of the range touring seat they had at the time for a Roadking , they called it a Mustang Super Touring Seat with riders backrest , from memory was @ $750 delivered with matching pillion backrest pad and a couple of rain covers , a complete down and back adjustment of riding position over the OEM , all day riding comfort , couldn't be happier with it ! Also you can see clips of the complete Mustang Factory manufacturing process on their site or YouTube .
Cheers
I can vouch for mustang seats. Back rest is quick and easy to change and works a treat.
About a week into riding across America my lower back was starting to cain. said to the Mrs i need to get a backrest or theres no way we are going to make Chicago today. it was the longest ride day of the trip, from Nashville to chicago. just short of Paducha we spoted 4 rivers HD and stopped and bought a HD adjustable backrest. well it comes as 2 parts, the actual backrest, and the mount and adjustable mechanism.the shop was really good to us gave us loads of free stuff, pens torches kickstand feet etc, i fitted the backrest in the carpark. they even lent me tools i didnt have in my budget tool bag.. i didnt really have time to sort out the adjustment part, but had the base in and the backrest fitted in under an hour.
the rest of that day was a lot better on my back, and in Chicago we were invited to stay with a couple of riders, in his workshop i discovered that the adjustment mechanism wont fit the trike without modification. Russ and i wrapped some canvas strap he had around the wheel part to tilt the backrest a bit further forward, and from that day on not a sign of any discomfort at all. apparently there are 4 different mechanisms for the adjustment, i must have got the wrong one. still an easy fix, and the piece of strapping from Vhicago is still in the trike doing its job nicely.
a backrest should end your lowwer back pain, and the HD one works well but helps to get the right mechanism first time..
heres a pic of me fitting backrest at 4 rivers kentucky
