As for Teo - I can see why his counterparts may find him disagreeable, but his passion for life and his free spirit is perfectly summed up here ... ANDREW DENTON: Motor biking still. Tell me about your bike? DR CHARLIE TEO: I have a very fast bike, I love speed and I had a fast bike when I was a young fellow and all my biker friends from those days have all progressed and matured and now they’re riding BMW’s or driving cars, but I’ve still got ah, oh someone didn’t like that comment. Laughter DR CHARLIE TEO: But I’ve still got one of those very fast Japanese bikes you know. ANDREW DENTON: But always within the speed limit? DR CHARLIE TEO: No. Laughter DR CHARLIE TEO: Oh gee no, no not within, I mean I should ride within the speed limit, but no you it’s very hard, you know to ride within the speed limit with a Fire blade 900 you have to be doing f first it has to be in first gear and even in first gear you have you’re mostly out of the speed limit. ANDREW DENTON: Mm… Laughter ANDREW DENTON: So you’re out of your driveway at about 200 kilometres an hour at least? DR CHARLIE TEO: Yes. Laughter ANDREW DENTON: And what’s the thrill when you’re when you’re there going at warp speed? DR CHARLIE TEO: Yeah that’s the thrill; the warp speed is the thrill yeah. Laughter DR CHARLIE TEO: It’s I guess it’s living life on the edge. I know what you know I kind of like challenges and I like oh yeah I like the challenge of trying to stay alive on a motorbike [laughs] you know at 200ks an hour ANDREW DENTON: Is part of the reason you push yourself like this is because you see so much mortality that it’s okay I’m going to take the most of life while I can? DR CHARLIE TEO: Yeah that is absolutely the reason. I mean I think that’s the reason I’m such a happy person as well because you know everyone says you know ‘how can you be happy when you’ve got people dying around you all the time’ and I mean that’s what makes me happy. I mean it’s so easy to be happy and so easy to appreciate what you’ve got when every day you see someone come in with a brain tumour who’s going to die from it or who does die from it and you know you’re complaining about your haemorrhoids or you know you’re complaining about the neighbour parking in your spot it’s just crazy. I mean people are dying from brain tumours in the prime of their lives with leaving young kids or leaving you know siblings and loved ones and we and we’re angry, we’re angry about someone pushing in front of us at the traffic lights or you know some surfer stealing your wave, it’s absolute bullshit. We should be embracing life and being happy and trying to make life better for people and you know and you know get the big picture ANDREW DENTON: Can you just have volunteers come in and operate with you to sort of get that sense of perspective? Laughter ANDREW DENTON: Dabblers, Neurosurgical dabblers?

I didn't see the show... but thought I would share this..... got this text in an email from one of my brothers...
Watched it, but was not overly impresed by him. I wonder what percentage of his patients are alive today
always the fcuking optimist (not).... but he did have a win over a brain tumour... treated at the facility in Footscray
I saw the interview and he had a great attitude, I particularly liked what he had to say about trying to deal with others in the medical profession and attempting to change their views on something like brain surgery. It seems to me no matter what the profession is, the more educated a person becomes the harder it is to teach or help them understand or accept anything new. If the professional population were more humble and interested in getting the very best out of themselves rather than trying to convince the world that they are right and should not be argued with, then there would be a level of respect that would breed noble people and perhaps we would see more DR CHARLIE TEO'S. You only have to go to Morgan and Wackers to get an attitude, and thats from a fucking Harley salesman, so imagine how far up themselves some of the medical profession must be ?? Although, being a doctor is still a long way from being a lawyer, after all at least doctors give people blood instead of sucking the blood out of them.
Old thread I know, but this guy is unbelievable. He's on Australian Story tonight, (and he's still got his bike),
EDIT: He lost his license for nine months for speeding!!!
Yep you dont get a stock Harley doing 150ks in First Gear
thankchrist someone with such a high profile, as he has ,says it how it is , good on him .
Vmax, Keep up the great attitude. pete.
