Unfortunately, steel blues were shit on my feet, tried em for 2 days and had only pain. They advertise they are ortho and are comfortable, and have a money back satisfaction guarantee so that was good. The left boot was too tight and cramped my foot. At $260, i would had thought they would be the best. Not so on my flippers.
So i went with the Ascent brand again, I have these in both slip on,$145, and lace up $175. I have used these for the last 3 years now so i will stick with them in future. I tried the steelblues as the bloke i work with swears by them. I could only swear at them for the 2 days, especially when i'm on my feet for 10 hours a day!
I suppose feet in boots are like heads in helmets, everyone has i different fitting. My 3 cents for what its worth.

I had a pair of Original SWAT Metro Air 9" that were AUS/APAC made and found them to be crap construction that started falling apart after a month. The first to go was the plastic coating off the toe, followed by the air cushion in the heel deflated in one boot after coming loose and squeaking in the wet, the cloth covering at the back of the ankle also ripped away from the seam and finally the zipper pull tabs snapped off.

The boots were bloody comfy and I wore them almost every day on or off the bike but for over $200 I was expecting boots that would last years not months. Not sure if the US made boots are any better but I don't know if I'd take that chance again.

The zip up mongrals are great, however I like the boundstone 172's or 177's or something a lot better. Way more comfortable.

OK, got my mongrel boots! They actually look similar to the swat style boots T1 was referring to. I find these boots very comfortable & light, I have worn jenkin Blundstone, Rossi & Redback in my 35yrs of plumbing & find these very light & comfortable. On my dirtbikes I have worn Rossis' Oneal, Alpine star & Sidi my current boots which for a dirtbike boot are like wearing slippers. I really like the thinner profile toe of the Mongrels & give me a lot better feel on the pegs than the boots I was wearing which were Land rover! Yes made by the same company as the 4wds very thick sole and thick profiled toe area & heavy. I will keep you posted about how they hold up! But for $114 Delivered I would be happy if they last a year. Boots4all or All things Australian Based in Brooklyn. And for the Oliver & Blundstone & other fans they stock most at as good as overseas prices! Cheers

I've tried Oliver elastic sided boots on the bike, not too bad. Tried Steel Blue lace up boots for 2 weeks in Tassie...not bad. Also have Blunstone lace ups, also steel caps, very comfortable....However I tend to used my Doc Martin lace up boots as they don't have the steel toe cap. I think you loose a bit too much feel between the big steel cap jobbies compared to no steel caps. Guess I need to buy proper riding boots, but I promise I won't tuck my jeans in if I do. Now that looks shit...
