I purchased a 59 ironhead sportster and cant get it running,has plenty of spark and fuel,magneto seems ok.It started a couple of times with aero start but was flaming out of rear pipe,magneto was turned back 1 spline to retard but wouldnt start.Now have maggie back in original position and cant get it running does anyone have any ideas.Thanks Troy

Get a Factory manual or lookon the net, try shovel head usa and do a search otherwise if you are in Melbourne and your having trouble try Colt at HD Development or Chris Wells at Harley city or in the east of the state Billy Garner at Phoenix M/ cyles in Warragul, all these gents are well versed in early iron . you would have to time the maggie proper & check the tappets 1st & do a compresion test , clean fuel tank out & carb also check out ,  before you break ya knee on the kicker

That looks great, love the springer, have just heard of a 1974 ironhead sitting in a fella's shed for the last 12 years. Hmmmmm

thats a 1983 Roadster , we have & original in blue, , 1974 was the best because it had the thicker barrels that went from 74 to85 + 1974  being the last right foor gear level model i have a 74   not finnished yet slight custom,  i prefer the right gear level
