well ducks have aligned and im getting ando to swap me cams out & change out my tensioners for me.   now the plan was to go with one of the andrews conversion kits but i have now been told by some suppliers that good ole HD dont supply the parts to andrews to make these kits anymore.  checked out some fueling stuff and have also been told by them they no longer supply due to this.

im guessing im not the only one to come against this and just wanting to know what path others took ?   should i just lay down & get the SE stuff coz (im pretty sure HD still makes these- tongue firmly in cheek) ?   or should i buy all the parts individually ?  would like to know if anyone has done this as im a bit worried that i will fuck up and miss something when ordering and hence bike will sit for longer.

It's an easy conversion to piece together yourself.
I have a list somewhere i should be able to find.
The most important is to find cams you like that are available in the conversion style. Andrews and woods make them along with some others.
Use the late model SE oil pump, with a standard late Cam plate.
The harley kit is designed to keep the stock inner chain with HD cams, and is a waste imho.

already have that list speedzter but cheers mate. so if i go with the SE conversion kit i can use the 37n's ? i have started searching the individual parts that made up the andrews kit and some hd websites are coming back with discontinued part for the cam plate. may be forced to just go with the SE kit which dont mind as long as im looking at the right cams.

The "N" cams are conversion Cams, and won't work with the SE kit.
You can use the normal (99-06) TW37's though.
As I said, the SE kit still uses the old style inner chain, so why waste your time ?

You must have an old list, as all parts are available.
Use the SE 62400001 oil pump, and 25355-06A Cam support plate.

R U sure some parts for the conversion are discontinued. We done the conversion to Cartoon Heads bike mid this year. He got all his parts from Harley Heaven & got them sent to Perth. Maybe try these guys. BTW he is running 37N's as well.

The SE kit will cost around $570 from HH.
You could always retain the stock setup with new tensioner pads.

Remember to change the cam bearings out to timken/torrington. Can get these off the shelf from any Statewide Bearings outlet. B148 for memory.
When we done Cartoonheads comversion the tail on one of the Stock cams had a very noticeable shear mark on it, we both then realized at the time that this conversion was cheap compared to what could happen once the stock bearing let go inside crankcase. From the shear mark it wasn't going to be long either.

cheers nado. have gone down that path in the end. kudo's must go to ando for his help with this. must admit made me feel not so stupid when it started doing his head in too.

2005 flstfi - yep, will def be changing out bearings at same time. while its pricey doing this coversion i def agree its worth it & best done asap. just some of the quotes you get back when trying to support local business gives me the shits. dont mind paying a bit more but fuck being ripped off.
