The solution to not having 80 year old granny up the road being robbed for drug money is not taking away fundemental principles of law like the "presumption of innocence" (which VLAD does) but rather to de-criminalize the drugs, that will take away any profit motive and organized crime won't be able to make any money out of drugs.

Err , gather you don't get out much , decriminalize drugs , yeh thats gonna make us all safe , a lot of them are bad enough now while its illigal , thats all i want is to see, more despots, running around my local front bar, edgy has fuck , scratching themselves , while there eyes are spinning around there head , Only a few will OD , the rest will just become a bigger burdon on society , especielly when they get addicted , and full of drug induced bravery

I saw a picture on another forum but didnt copy it to post here but its message was very clear And very relevent....
Everything Hitler did was Legal...... Abhorrent in hindsight....but Legal at the time.
An entire race became a 'declared organisation', the presumption of innocence was replaced with 'proving your innocence'. Do we think those intrusions into the rule of Law were unjust or barbaric...of course most do. (you would hope)
While other regimes have committed similar policies on their populace the outcome has never been good, nor lasted.
The Apartheid Laws in Sth Africa caused a world wide boycott on the place.... The 'Special Powers Act in Ireland in the 70's during 'the troubles' caused a massive upswing in support for the IRA because of the 'anti-association' component within it. After 2000 students were locked up in Long Kesh for 'associating' at suspected IRA recruiting haunts the Govt repealed the Law as it had backfired badly on their attempt to 'outlaw' support for the IRA.
Blanket Legislation has never worked, and has generally spelt doom for the instigators...... There are too many normal folk out there that see the dangers of having Laws with very little checks and balances, even tho there will always be supporters of such malarky, history should have taught us that Govts often get it wrong...despite the sales pitch that accompanies the agenda.....

As soon as you clutch at the Nazi card your arguement is lost. Sorry, but you need to formulate a better rubuttal than "That's what Hitler would do."

On why nazi comparisons automatically lose the argument.

Because the Nazi analogy is used by everyone that can't mount a proper argument.

    It's a bit like this one .....

True according to Mike Goodwins experimental 'Law' Dutch.......... but he does include this paragraph in its 'rules'..... "a discussion of other totalitarian regimes or ideologies, if that was the explicit topic of conversation, since a Nazi comparison in those circumstances may be appropriate.."

"Godwin's law applies especially to inappropriate, inordinate, or hyperbolic comparisons of other situations (or one's opponent) with Nazis – often referred to as "playing the Hitler card". The law and its corollaries would not apply to discussions covering known mainstays of Nazi Germany such as genocide, eugenics, or racial superiority, nor, more debatably, to a discussion of other totalitarian regimes or ideologies, if that was the explicit topic of conversation, since a Nazi comparison in those circumstances may be appropriate, in effect committing the fallacist's fallacy."

I would probably pick the 'Special Powers Act' out of the 3 examples I wrote of as a better one to highlight in comparison to some of the draconian legislation being drafted and contemplated around Australia.  It was the example brought to the UMC's by Prof Bob Moles in his lectures on blanket legislation around the world and its failings.

Establish a credible genuine link between VLAD and anything Nazi and the whole thing will come tumbling down and the Newman Govt with it.

Oh ok, maybe just the comparison relating to Governmental persecution of minorities through legislation is good enough for discussion, maybe not, its a forum....not a courtroom.... Newmans Govt will probably come crashing down on its own accord next election without help from the lobbyists involved in the motorcycle scene, maybe not...

Politicians if ' found to be corrupt , ' organised white collar elite grubs back dooring the Australian Voters , now that they have upped the anti , has gotta be worth at least 30-50 yrs ' dressed in a pink mankini ' in Woodford Prison , if club associates and office bearers are worth 15-25 yrs !
    Cheers
