Loud Exhausts Tamed down

    Hi every one.

I have made a video about how to modify straight through baffles commonly supplied with pipes like Vance and hines. The modification is to make them quieter.

I ride a 06 Dyna SuperGlide with S&S Side slashers on it.  They are PERFECT - No modification necessarysmiley

    BUT

My Wife rides an 800cc Suzuki Boulevard which has Vance and Hines short shots on it, and it is disgustingly loud.

When we are cruzin at anyspeed really, Her Bike Drowns mine out completely and she cant even hear the helmet intercome that we try to share...

So I set out to quieten her baffles...

Now, it is tame... Still Loud enough, but only half what it was before hand.

So, I am bringing this up on this forum, so that IF you own vance and hines pipes AND they have straight through baffles which are crazy loud,

I hope my video will inspire you to do the work yourself if you cant stand the noise any longer..

The worst case scenario is that you could even fasion a SECOND SET OF BAFFLES for roadworthy purposes

Anyway, please watch my video and I hope you like it.

You'll have to retune her now, she will be running a tad hotter since your restricting the exhaust flow.

That's unless your using a Auto tuner that can compensate.

I did something similar to my v&h big radius baffles but not quite as restrictive as your's. The end result was my pipes were still too loud and I changed my pipes over. Id consider doing what you did to my v&h big radius baffles but concerned that it might be too restrictive. I know I'd need to retune but I'd be curious to know what feedback dyno Harley and some of the other experts on here might offer

Re:Tuning, The Boulevard runs better with the modified Baffles. Wife says it has more power from a standing start and the occasional backfire it had seems less (it was never retuned from when it had its factory pipes on), so I guess I has regained some of the back pressure it lost... I cant tell myself, Its only half as powerful as my Harley on a good day...

One note (ME HAVIN A GRIPE!!), and really, this is another topic anyway) When I agreed with me Wife buying that bike, it was because it was at least a V-Twin... I WAS WRONG! It only LOOKS like a V-Twin...
It always puzzled my how they got it to run so evenly at idle... I found Out!!!
The Big END Bearings are placed 45 degrees apart, so in fact, it is a parallel twin!!! which has been "twisted" into a 45 Degree Shape!!! EG - Both Pistons reach TDC AT THE SAME TIME!!!! Friggin Deceitful buggas..
We are now in the market for a Sportster for her...
