Hi Guy's , just purchased a keihin cv carb ,HD pn# 27421-99a and have done a little research and it appears to be 38 mm body .was hoping to fit this to my 82 FXB , i know i have to change throttle cables and fit an adaptor flange (am looking at a Killer Carbs press on flange from the USA ) ,any advice on this would be greatly appreciated .

    Cheers

also i made up brackets to hold the air cleaner to the engine, just to stop carb comming out of the push in fitting.

cv is 40m.m. i could be wrong . anywway the stock chovel inlet manifold is the same bolt pattern as the mic  carb flange that hat the 2 bolt pattern  like off a 1970'or 80's yz 250 yamahe etc  straight up mic flange mount ,      FXB 1982 is a Sturgis ?

i own an 1980 FXB original with the original sidecar there was only 3 made  back then ,   it could be up for sale @ the right price as i need the room for more racebike's

    40mm...
    - I assume the FXB is an 80"?
    - What jets do you have in the carb?
    - Has the idle bleed been drilled out?

the aluminium press on flange , line it up perfectly before pressing ,you wont be able to turn it afterwards without hurting it, l use a dab of heat proof silicon around the edge, it acts as a lubricant when pressing & when set stops any air leaks,(if any)some say use jb weld but thats to permanant for my liking, theres a rubber adapter available as well but ive never purchased one before,l have a couple of alloy flanges from the states hanging on my shed wall, handy to have on hand, & shipping on 3 was the same price as one, you probably have read about removing the small cap at the bottom of the carb. for fine tuning,Do IT before installing the carb. you may not need to adjust it ,but probably will, 38mm cv's were on sporties,40mm on big twins, you can run either , the standard jetting should work o.k. ive found 40mm with std jetting very good in an 80ci shovel, a 40mm with std jets on a 66 gen shov to rich, jets are cheap and can be fitted with the carb. installed ,by removing the bowl with a stubby philips head screw driver.
