This undated photo provided by the U.S. Customs & Border Protection shows a recently recovered a 1953 Triumph motorcycle which was stolen more than 46 years ago from its owner’s backyard in Omaha, Nebraska in 1967. On October 30, 2013, CBP seized the vehicle, then turned it over to California Highway Patrol who will return the bike to its original owner, who is in his 70s now and still lives in Omaha. bike was valued at $300 when stolen, found waiting to be shipped to Japan with an estimated value of $9000

far out  getting a bike back after 46 years stolen..  they must have cops that arent chasing people for riding, or eating do naughts while watching road works

great to get back a stolen bike

I went to the local police station yesterday to get my sons stolen bike back, it was taken 2 months before he passed away 3 years ago

it is only a DRZ 250 but it was my sons. to repair it will cost me a couple $K to fix but, it was my sons, (I actually bought it but he rode it)

no chance of compensation through victims of crime as the police cant prove who stole it???

Sooooo, from my big book of "shit I don't know, but don't want to be a knob and ask" I'm going to break protocol and do it anyway - if a person gets an insurance payout, what happens when his bike is recovered? Does the insurance company own the bike now?

didnt see this one becomming a sombre post, I too live with the "loss" of my son. cant say youll get over it, cos in my experience you dont, but you do find ways in yourself to deal with it better. there is a black hole inside of me but i dont go there now. knowing its there helps keep life in perspective. helps me not to sweat the little things and maximise the good.  a harley and a long stretch of black stuff is excellent therapy
