G'day all, new to the forum and new to HD.

Picked up a forty eight a couple of months ago and am loving it. Looking forward to making a few mods and this looks like a great place to get some good advice or have the piss taken outa me. Either way should be fun.

Hey Orange good choice I've just turned over 2500 kms on mine & loving it. How's things down that way used to live in Inverell a long time back. Caught some big cod down your way.

    Cheers FC

For what it's worth FC - put the V & H "quiet baffles" in - and ALL decel-popping gone. Can stay reasonably quiet round town now too. Bottom end much better (top end maybe a little less) and a fair bit deeper in tone. The decel popping with the standard cheese-grater baffles used to annoy the crap out of me. Was riding around in a too high a gear just to keep the shrill bark down.

Lots of mixed opinions about these quieter baffles - but I am very pleased with 'em. Sounds more like a Harley should sound I reckon.
    Well worth the $100 IMHO
    cheers

To be honest I don't know if the quiet baffles are in or not. The pipes were on the bike when I got it.

Should I be able tosee the the baffles?

i like the exhaust note as it is.

Hi FC - ditto here on the cops too mate.
Not hard to do at all - and u don't need to take ur pipes off to do it.
You will have to take off the heat shields tho - bit fidgetty and u have to watch damaging the paint work. Reckon took me about an hour and 15.

Re-tune? Didn't with mine because bike ran so MUCH better with the "new" baffles. Reckon it was running far worse (probably lean) with the originals in ! !

Mine's a carby tho cobber - reckon urs an EFI. If u are serious about putting them in - send a pm if u want. I've got unlimited calls (nationwide) on the mobile - and more than happy to run u thru it when ur ready. Much easier than trying to type it all out.

    cheers
    George

Thanks George might take you up on that will look into getting the gear and get back to you. Not sure what to expect with the tuner with a change to pipes seems some believe will need retuning. Been crook for couple weeks really looking forward to some therapy over the next week or so then might get things sorted to do in some down time around Xmas.
