It's official.  I've started a new section for these new models.  Probably won't hit Australia till 2015 from what I've read but I'm sure we'll hear more.

Was looking at some of the customised bikes developed by the designers at Harley, I must say I'm a fan already.  Pictures below pinched from Cycle World:

The RDX800 concept (top photo) could be a credible production sports version. Dunno if the rumoured 54hp would excite me but I'm sure there'd be more power lurking in there somewhere. I'd buy one.

    Slap.

That white Cafe Racer looks good with half decent shocks on it. I hope they sell well!

Put my deposit down on a Street 500 this week, now for the long wait till it arrives.

Hope Harley ends up bringing some in a few months early.

Great move from HD, i love the look of these things. They will be very appealing to the younger guys! Wonder what engine upgrades kits will be available? maybe a turbo kit??

I'm definitely keeping an eye on these!

    G'day,

Anyone out there old enough to remember when 500's were the bike to have and 750's were the superbikes ?

Have the prices been sorted out yet?

How cute,a miniature Big boys bike.
I'd just save a few thousand by re-badging a Hyosung
    With HD badging.

One of HD's main issues is it's aging owner demographic, HD need to attract younger buyers and these models might be the way to do it. Would I buy one? Not for me, but I can see the missus on the cafe racer one.

Oh and bonus for the sporty riders... it'll give the 'skirtster' peanut gallery another target LOL

I believe that HD will run the risk of becoming mainstream, and loosing some of its appeal....

they do one thing well, which is the big bikes.....stick to it......

G'day, an item on HD TV suggested the price might be slightly under $10,000-00 for the 500. The 750 apparently isn't coming to Oz.

    later...

"Harley-Davidson’s well publicised move into the learner motorcycle market has now been given a definitive timeline, with the new bike to debut in five months
Harley-Davidson Australia has confirmed the Street 500 will go on sale locally on February 1, 2015 – one of the last markets in the world to get its hands on the first all-new platform for the American company in 14 years.

The machine is already on sale in markets such as America, Italy, Spain, Portugal and India – the latter already proving to be a prosperous country.
Harley’s Aussie marketing chief Adam Wright says the bike will still go on sale somewhere between 10 and 12K, with a final figure to be announced in coming months.

The Street 500, which will make an appearance at the 2014 Moto Expo Melbourne from November 28-23, 2014, is one half of a new Dark Custom family alongside the Street 750. The 500 has a six-speed transmission, belt drive, a two-into-one exhaust, mid-mount controls, tear drop fuel tank, single discs at both ends, metal tank and fenders, an LED taillight, a low 645mm seat height, 17 and 15-inch wheels, and has a wet weight of 217kg. Fuel capacity is 12.5 litres, which is the same as the 883 Iron.

The liquid-cooled, SOHC, eight-valve 494cc V-twin is called the Revolution X engine. Claimed peak power is 36.1hp (27kW) at 7100rpm, but we don't have a torque figure as yet - however expect something around the 45Nm mark.

“The Street 500 was designed with thousands of hours of input from young adults in cities around the world,” said Matt Levatich, President and Chief Operating Officer of Harley-Davidson Motor Company – and the man who initially spilt the beans that a learner Harley was on the way. “This input guided both the attitude and capabilities of these motorcycles. They are proof that being customer-led continues to be the core driver of our product development process.

The Bikesales Network will be riding the Street 500, also known as the XG500, by the end of 2014."

I agree with you, the company has to move forward with the development of the bike to fit in with the standards required by law if they want to survive. Everything evolves to survive and this is no different.

These bikes are great! I'm actually excited as they will bring a lot of young guys into Harley's along with their new styles and ideas! There's nothing I love more than a original idea/style! I hope the HD electric goes ahead also, I'll be buying a 500 and an electric that's for sure!

Any ideas on when this is actually coming? Pretty keen on the idea of modifying a 500 as a bit of a flat tracker.

I agree, the kids should love the bike in the 3rd pic, after all the seat wheels and handlebars look like they came straight off a BMX bike. What a fucken shitbox. Heaps better looking learner legal cruisers out there apposed to this cheap looking lightweight wanna-be. Rear guard and pipes look real legal. Missed the mark on this one HD im sorry..

Wow. Don't these look great? Like a Baby V Rod. Under ten large and part of the family.
I'm up for a test ride for sure. ( wont get me off the Wide Glide but) always room for another bike in my garage.
A set of hard bags and this would be an awesome commuter.
Shame the 750 isn't going to be imported but judging by HD previous methods there will be several models available in a couple of years. Remember when belt drives came in etc ?one year there on a new model( Sturgis) then next year there across the entire range. Same with motors.
The Dyno charts from USA on the 750 look like a "Sporty KILLER" Lighter weight and a good flat torque curve and almost the same power. The Mo Co seems to have put a lot of thought into this and I reckon good on them. Lets face it , the Sporty engine has been around for yonks and it will no doubt be headed for a refurbish . I doubt the Sporty will ever be dropped as its an iconic Harley always has been always will be
Add to the fact that this is against the only decent LAMS bike with any street cred at all( Ducati 659 ,over 14 large and 67 horsepower I know) and I think they have a winner.
I can see lots of possibilities with this little beasty.
