2012 Wide Glide feels a little loose in Rear

    Morning All,

Picked up my first Harley the other day (2012 Dyna Wide Glide with stage1 exhaust/intake kit) and it has only 23,000km's on the clock.

The rear end (tyres or something) seems to feel as though it's moving around (left to right) a little.

I understand the front trye maybe tracking the contours of the road as its a narrow tyre, but it almost feels like the rear tyre is a little flat.

Rear tye Pressure cold - 40-41 and front 38-39 Cold.

Rear suspension has just been set to hardest from 1/2 (probably standard setting).

Is there anything I am missing or may it just be that as im a heavy bloke at 120kg's that the shocks are to soft ? or is the rear tyre actually OFF and needs replacing (80 tread still on tyres).

    Cheers.

    Ride Safe

    Tonk.

    Hi,

i not sure what could be happening but just go throigh motions of checking bolts, alignment, wheel bearings, shock bolts, belt tension, pulley and swingarm bearing

thebigT will check in and he generally pretty good with alot of things with the wide glide

which tyre on back? I have night dragon and run at around 42-42psi cold, if you using the dunlopgt502 its a squarer tyre

    thanks

Hi, also check your spokes (if still the standard wheels). I had a similar issue and found all the spokes were loose on the rear.

    Thanks robots, cheers mate.
    Yup check all the above.
The standard shocks are too soft for your weight too. You've done the right thing by setting the preload to the highest setting but that won't be enough. You'll need to go to a .45 or higher if you ride two up as well.
    What tyres are you running?
Can you post a pic of both tyres?
Are they the originals or have they been replaced at some stage?

Shocks and tyres.....if your running the OEM Dunflops then get rid of them for a Metz or Pirelli.

    Thanks for all the suggestions...

I am running Dunlop tyres front and rear so i'm guessing still stock.

The rear tyre has a wide square patch and Toowoomba Harley Dealers advised this will probably being causing the issue.

They checked the spokes, rear and all ok. They tightened the Engine Mounts as they were a little loose.

I have tyre and rim coverage on my insurance so maybe i should put a claim in for a set of tyres and this will fix the issue.

I will try to take and attach pictures of tyres.

    Cheers.
