Couple of updates .
The Pan under the seat that will cover the Electrics and tidy up that general area . . . edges still need to be cleaned up .
Ready for the Black treatment ... reinforced strenght rib down the middle ... hole cut out for solo seat to attach ... edges all cleaned up .
Nice touch with the under side being lined to protect Electrics .
These are some seat supports Shane sussgested would be a good idea ... will be Black of course to blend in ... should be interesting to feel any difference in the seat ... the fact that i am 140 Kg`s the springs would have just bottomed out and if we went real stiff springs then there would be the likely hood of a bit of pogo efect if you know what i mean ... this way still get the sprung solo seat look and still have rear susspension due to it still being a Softail ... well thats the theory anyhow .
Getting close now .
Ok , couple of more pics ... under seat pan all Blacked out .
Nice little piece slotted in the hole where the front of seat bolts onto frame ... the idea is it should protect the paint when taking seat on and off .
Seat bolted in place ... there will be 2 x 12mm nuts that are easily gotton to by reaching under rear of frame just in front of swingarm then simply lifting and undoing front of seat and hey presto easy access to Electrics .
Just another angle ... should be interesting to see how these solid rods fitted inside the springs will feel with my slight bit of extra weight ... i can feel a diet coming on ... Lol .
Some small updates ... Flat Matt Black Number plate fitted ... just under the Tail light you might notice a bit flared up , that is where the number plate light will go .
Bit of luck the coppers will be happy with the brightness .
All fitted with bullet indicators and drilled out Guard bracket , contrast cut to match contrast cuts on rear exhaust cone .
Dash with Dakota Speedo fitted , idiot lights still to go in ... you might be able to get the idea as to how the Gloss Black will go against the Flat / Matt Black .
Well here`s the Tank and 1960 Arrow Head badge , bloody love that Red against the Black ... bit of Pin Striping going on next week , going to be the hardest part for me i reckon , paint jobs can be such a subjective thing ... fingers crossed it turns out how i think ... so far it has ... getting there guys .
Yeah, didn't really want to cast any doubts. As you said elsewhere, it's all quite readable and the rego will mark it QLD but sometimes plod takes it to the letter of the law. So commonsense may not come into it. Be interesting to see the replies you get as to opinions and maybe what the law actually says.....
Nice way to deal with the number plate, all the same!!
Ok , time for a couple of more updates / Pics ... as spoken about above might have to look at a small change to rear number plate section , but for now i`m just hanging to get it on the road .
Front Guard .
Rear Guard ... the deepness of the Red just about matchs the Red in the Tank Badge .
Tanks ... nice sharp lines .
Tanks with the High Gloss Dash and Fuel Caps , nice contrast to the Flat / Matt Black paint work .
Side view .
Front wheel and guard fitted ... just a couple of covers to clean up the exposed nuts and bolts .
Bit of Old Sckool Basic Air filter cover ...
Till next time folks .
It`s getting close now ...
not eveything is hand made , over the counter nice gloss black axle blot covers
Ignition is now where the horn used to be ... a semi modern unit ... horn will be located down back of motor in front of rear guard .
Pinstripes arn`t everyone`s cup of tea but i`m rapt ... love the way the gloss black dash and fuel caps contrast against the Matt / Flat Black paint work as well as the brightness of the Red ... was thinking at one point to just go with the Red but i think the traditional Red & White go together well .
My Favorite part of paint is the rear guard .
Just another angle .
Headlight still to go in plus a little bit of wiring ... which Shane reckons he loves ... { something wrong with the man , Lol } ... couple of fiddly bits and pieces and she`s ready for the Solo Rego .
Post again soon , cheers ... Tim .
