Hi all in happy forumland, I finally pulled off the standard headers tonight off the Ultra, and undid the flapper cable attached to the AEV on the headers. I'm  geting rid of the flapper and casting piece all together and replacing it with a new piece of pipe. Also decatting the bastardo. (yep folks, no more pus cat)

Question i have is, has anyone removed the whole AEV unit from the bike (since ya dont need or use it anymore). Not just the cable from the unit. Its easy to remove, and looks like it could save a liitle weight to.

It has a flat 4 pin plug going into the unit and i was just goin to pull it, tape it up and leave it.

Question 2,  even though the flapper is inactive in the ecu (or wherever), will it code if the plug is pulled when its all back together and running again?

Anyone done this and what was the result.

The unit is directly under the ABS module, behind the rhs side cover on the tourers.

    Cheers to you all. Hutch-Mandingo.

i normally leave the module there and connected as it will bring the engine light on ( log a fault). You can remove the cable from it all together and leave the unit in place and connected.

Thanks T1. I was going to just remove the cable, but then I thought about removing the whole thing. So it will code hey, Bugga.

Mate I have done exactly what you are talking about, removed the entire active exhaust assembly and had a new piece of stainless steel welded in, also had the stealer de-activate it electronically so no fault codes come up.

Yep, got rid of the whole lot and it now lives in a box in the shed, had no dramas/codes at all....

yes you are right guys, didn't know if he had a tuner or not or even knew how to de activate it, I thought i'd just give the simple easy answer that will allow anybody who is only changing the exhaust to make it work.

what tuner unit are you running. Some allow turning it off. I pulled the complete set up and just turned it off.

Alternatively you can pull the complete unit and plug one of these into the harness.

then if you pull the complete unit there should be no error codes, mine is turned off using PV which is the same as SERT in that it writes to the ECUand I have no error codes

Just unplug it and see what happens

actually I got 2 of the things in the shed if anyone knows what they might be useful for
